I am scheduled to have HYGEAR do the TRAIL PRO upgrade package next weekend. After speaking at length with Ross from HYGEAR, his set up seems very well thought out and designed. Not to mention he is a really nice guy and takes the time to explain things in great detail. I am wondering how, for the same $$$$$ this set up will compare to an Expert X and an M-10. Any thoughts?

Thanks

The Hygear trail pro pkg may be better as you are doing the front AND rear shocks.

Mostly groomed trail riding the trail pro pkg may be overkill as you get all the shocks done up $$.
The sport pkg may be a good choice.

If you ride mostly ungroomed trails you would have great adjustability and the ultimate set up with the Trail pro pkg.

But.. With the HG pkg can the Yamaha suspension parts hold up to the beating you will give it now that you can go faster in the bigger bumps keeping up with or leading the Doo Revs?

I will be sending in my ele Ohlins shock for a revalve and also get the rear dual rate spring kit.

Talked to a friend who loves the better ride the dual rate (rear shock)springs give and it sold me.Many on TY have tried the dual springs.

With the m-10 or X you just replace the rear.If you did just the rear and made it ride good then the front might be holding you back when you reach its limit. The rear susp can now handle more than the front can.

Thanks Yam182. That is pretty much exactly what I had thought as well. Looks like off to HYGEAR I go! :-o :yam:

I already done the "standard kyb ra rear kit" they did a great job on that shock.

I rebuilt the shock vs change for a new suspension because i like the weight transfer ajustability for trail and drag racing and want to stop bottoming the suspension because i am agressive rider.

I just receive the shock 3 week ago,I didn't tried yet :letsnow: :letsnow: :letsnow:

HYGEAR rear dual rate spring

How many of you have tested just the rear dual sring kit?
I like the mono rear, but would like to stop it from bottoming and still have a soft ride, like my friends EDGE has...

I also am interested in having my rear shock rebuilt by Hygear. I talked to Ross and told him what I needed, but I am a little concerned about the fact that he didn't seem real sure how to set up my shock for my weight. I ride a Rage 06 and top the scales at about 285. Has anyone out there had him set up a shock for this weight? I have used dual rate springs in the past and they work great.

Wayno.

Yesterday I drove the 200 miles to HYGEAR to have the Trail Pro Package installed on my 2006 APEX ER. Spent about 45 minutes talking with Ross and the boys as they explained what they would be doing. I then left the shop to meet with a client to do some business while Ross and the guys worked their magic. When I returned they were still working on my sled. Ross and the guys were awesome. They took the time to explain how each part of the system worked independantly and in conjunction with the rest of the sled. They just don't expect you to accept what they are doing as absolute, rather they thoroughly understand "WHY" and how not just that it works. They also can and are willing to articulate the same to the customer. You can see, hear and feel the pride they take in their work. This is a company on the verge of some big things in my opinion, and it was indeed a pleasure doing business with Ross and the gang.

There is a lot of thought and design that has gone into this system. Their work is impeccably neat and clean. The guys in the back are not just installers. These guys all have tons of experience and not just take orders but they are thinkers and teachers. They take the time to explain the system to you and answer your questions.

After they loaded my APEX back into my "wagon" as they call enclosed trailers, they even got out the brooms and swept the ramp and floor to clean up the dirt/pebbles that were a result of the loading process. Just a FIRST CLASS OPERATION ALL THE WAY AROUND!!!! :yam: :-o ;)! :flag:

There was only one thing that Ross and the boys weren't able to do.....make it SNOW! :tg: Can't wait to ride!!!!!!!!!!! :jump:

Tell Ross and the boys to get their butt on this site as advertisers.... I had spoken with them at NY Show and have not heard anything since.

One more thing Shane, do NOT post this topic over and over in different place, 1st thing it breaks the site rules and 2nd, it make you like you are working for them and promoting their product!!!

Mr. Sled,

Didn't mean to offend you by explaining what I thought was a good quality customer experience. I felt it was appropriate for the following reasons:

1. Stock Suspension - Because it is a stock suspension with aftermarket modifications to rid the sled of the suspension issues many on here have spoken of.

2. After Market Suspension - Because they are aftermarket components on a stock skid.

3. Apex General Discussion - Because the sled is an APEX ER.

Sorry, I was not aware that I was in viloation. I guess ignorance of the law is no excuse. BTW... :rocks: As far as Ross advertising here, how he spends his advertising dollars is his call and not up to me. I sure think this would be a good place to allocate ad dollars as it provides a captive audience. Perhaps you may want to follow up with a phone call to Ross. As a matter of fact I even mentioned the site and teh countless discussions on here addressing this very issue. ;)! One step ahead of you.... :-o
