At the risk on rehashing this topic, I need some help. I tried shimming, doolies, triple carbides with ski savers, and I still have darting.

I am ready to replace the skis but I have heard so many different stories I need to hear from someone that has done the swap. Of all the above the doolies stopped the darting but forget about trying to steer into a corner in heavy snow. They resist turning then breakway into oversteer.

It is beyond reason that Yamaha has let this problem go on so long. My 2003 Viper darted so bad that it was at times dangerous. Doolies did cure it but at the expense of other traits. I was riding over the weekend and the darting was so bad it was almost impossible to keep on the trail at 45 mph. On the throttle it was better ( skis off the snow). Currently it has stock skis SHIMMED with Bergstrom triple 6 inch with NO SKI SAVERS. The toe is set to 1/4 inch out. Tried more , less, no change

Going on a long trip soon and I do not want to fight this thing all week

I think majority of guys like PILOTS and Simmons....

I run Pilots, they are the LEAST EXPENSIVE by far....reduce darting to a minimum and have the lightest feel at bars...

Simmons reduce darting very well but are heavier feel at bars in turns and can PUSH in certain conditions due to the "float".....also,simmons would be better for DEEPER snow conditions then Pilots.

these are the two ive seen as most popular, and both are heads and tails over the stock yammie skis.

But also for the guys that dont want to spend $325 on a set of skis, the stock skis can be made to work OK

In my mind it might end up back at shimming. have you shimmed enough? does the very soft stopper just compress the more you shim it?

That said go back to basics first.
Any excess play in a arms,(they all have some) excess play in tie rods, spindles?
Is toe out set to specs? have you tried 1/4" out?

Plus you can always run a dual carbide bar to cure it

Pilots are awesome

My X2's are sweet to with about 1/4" of toe in no tracking or darting and easy to steer.

C&A Razors cured my warrior. I am going to put tripple points and ski savers on when the stock 6 inch C&As wear out. Madlx

Try and tighten up your limiter strap by one hole. It made a huge difference on both Apex GT and my Attak.

I think u may have darting mixed up with the feel of the twitching the Gt has Both Gt`s i have rode mine and a friends did this and he put dooly`s almost cured it then sucked up the strap and it was a TOTALLY different sled.Much nicer to ride I just ordered the bergstroms for my sled, 6-inch and the shim kit and the savers per Scott B. I will see what happens i hope to go up this weekend to ride. Also lowering the front end of the sled is a option but i dont know how this will work yet with the GYT shocks maybe MACHZED will chime in on this since i have been wanting to ask him about this. Make sure you check ski alignment that is very key.... that said, i spent money on a pair of Slydog Powderhounds for my attak, and i LOVE them... no darting, and excellent flotation in the fluff too.... and the black and blue color scheme looks sweet.

I have a 07 RTX with fox floats set at 70 PSI, STOCK SKIS, no shims and one Woody's dually on the right Ski and a single six inch Woody's on the left ski. My sled absolutely rails on the trail! I have 2000 miles at this time and have never experienced any darting whatsoever. The dually eliminated the darting and by only having one prevented the hard steering people are experiencing with using two. I installed the dually on the right ski to prevent rapid wear while riding along the roadway. This is an inexpensive fix, I recommend trying this prior to breaking the bank on all the other fixes posted here??

There are several people that I ride with that are using this same tactic with great success!

Im installing a pair of 6 inch shapers this week in my pilots...center only....

leaving the stock 4 inchers on outer.
