More info on supercharger

A friend that I ride with has a Boondocker turbo Phazer.
He did blow it up last year, to much boost with not enough race fuel. I think he had it close to 20 pounds. He did have lower compresion pistons in it, 9.5 to 1 I believe. Probably would have been ok if he would have had straight race fuel in it.
This year he dosn't want to buy race fuel, so he has been running the boost at around 7 psi (9.5 to 1 pistons again). This year with the lower boost, it has been running great and trouble free for him!
He told me that he probably will turn the boost up to 10 psi, and add some race fuel. But does not plan on going above that. Since he wants to ride instead of wrench.
I rode it a couple of weeks ago, and it is fun to ride! At that time the boost was 6-7 psi.

Here is my $.02. I would also really like to hear from someone who has rode a supercharged Phazer.

I have heard/read what the turbo crowd says. The first thing you have to know is where do you want your power to start at. Superchargers are building boost as soon as you push the throttle, a turbo is going to build boost later. Look all the fastest drag racers. They run superchargers. Why? They want the most they can get off the line. A turbo works great for running top end. A Porsche will eat a V8 alive on the long distance, but on a drag strip the Porsche is looking at nothing but a rear bumper.

I for one will be installing a supercharger as soon as I can afford it.

The temp is not the problem with 91/93 octane, the problem is detonation because of the extra cylinder pressure. I only run a 50/50 mix of 114 and 91, I'm at about 6,000ft and at 11lbs of boost. race fuel is cheap a motor is expensive. anything else let me know. Scott

supercharger

i am running the MPIkit on my 07 MTX.Lots of low end,but it seems to drop off in a hurry.could be clutching?gearing?not sure.lots of power for sure though.my yamaha dealer says it is hard to set these up with the supplied tuning boxes(because they piggyback the stock computer) would be great to hear fromm others as to their setups&experience with them.

boost

i am running an mpi supercharger on my phazer mtx.i have the head shim in to drop the compression.this allows running premium fuel without mix.the only drawback to this is your sled will have a hard time starting after -15c.i have installed a block heater&it helps some.the supercharger kit is not a "plug&play" ordeal.i had mine in the shop this winter 6 times for related problems with the programming on the charger.having said that,i think all the problems are sorted out now.part of the problem was an inproper install by the shop.this thing seems to have descent power now.it says 11 pounds boost on my gauge at full throttle.i am running a 151 track with19 tooth top gear in the case, however it will only pull 110kph wide open in unpacked heavier snow.i really need to figure out why this thing will not turn.i have been stuck so many times because i cant seem to maneuver.i am goinh to pull the strap in a notch before i go out this weekend.SUGGESTIONS?
