I lost most of the clips off the stock rip saw at about 3700mi. At this point i removed the remaining 12 clips and reinstalled all new clips, opened up the closed windows and installed the ski doo extrovert drivers. I lost one clip after about 200miles in great conditions with lots of powder and then rode the lake today for about 10miles, a couple high speed runs and now am missing at least half of my clips.

Does anyone know why this happens? :o|

BTW i used lightweight clips with the plier type tool, the clips appeared to go on pretty tight. some of the remaining clips are beginning to loosen now though.

Which is the best clip tool?

I've never lost a clip in 4500kms this year so far and I drive lots of high speeds.

I only drive on groomed trails I don't of trail just wondering if you of trail or drive on icy surfuces will create lots of heat and the clips get very hot and fall of...the other thing if you ride in a lot of deep powder the front end of the rails will be at a sharper angle and the clips will hit the end caps on the rails and tend to loosen them (clips)...

If you do ride in deep stuff, pull up your limiter strap I pulled mine up 1 hole from stock set up for trail riding and works great.

i used the impact style and i lost a bunch more clips to. both times i lost way more on the right side though. i dont have a clue whats doing it.

I've noticed the same thing, both times this happens it has lost more on the right side.

Could this be due to the offset wheel in the rear axle?

Shark Attak:

I went through a set of sliders quickly, started to rain and trails got tight, seemed like there was adequate snow. New sliders look mint after 175miles except there's a little gouging here and there i'm assuming from the clips coming off.

I too am in the club of missing clips. Had a race I was suposed to go to today but cant now.

Im thinking there is more clips missing on the oil tank side of the track as your driving off trail on that side more to get snow into your skid and track for slider releif.

Either way, the approach angle on the mono is all wrong and is wayy too steep. I just had to replace my rail tips becuase they were melted off from deep snow riding, one was right down to the aluminum.

I do beleive that an Expert X is in my future wth extroverts. Maybe a set back 121" skid for an excellent approach angle. Either way, the mono sucks!!!!!!!!!!

I also have an '06 Apex and have lost and replaced most of my clips. I too ride in all trail conditions and off trail. I've determined that the problem is loose rail tips causing the clip to catch on them and eventually wear or rip off. I drilled out the stock rivet and replaced it with a small bolt and nylock nut. I also but on new rail tips and the problem has subsided. I have 5000 miles on now and haven't lost one for about 2000 miles now. Hope this helps.

best thing you can do when it happens is replace them all..

I lost 6 clips on my track at 4300 miles and reclipped the whole track and havent lost one since..

Lake racing will kill clips in a hurry due to heat.

Same here.Went through clips until I drilled and taped bolts into the bottom of those caps(like the slide holding screws)and never had issues since. For some reason when the rail caps are loose, it takes off the clips.

You guys losing clips, do you ride a lot of deep snow?

1 other thing, you guys runninig studs, I'm not maybe studs cause a deflection or puts stress on them and gets them to pull off excessive friction on slides...

I'm just trying to see if theirs some kind of pattern here, is it guys running in marginal conditions, studded or unstudded or deep snow?

On my '05 RX1 ran it 11.000kms and never lost a clip (unstudded), like I said before strickly GROOMED trails and lots of high speeds OEM track clipped every 3rd...

I am running studs and conditions when i lost them were good, some bare ice, but also large piles of fluffy snow 4-6" deep. I've ridden in similar conditions and done speed runs on ice and never lost a clip.

When i put the new clips on a bolted the caps tightly as well. Maybe they are worn from being loose before? I will replace them as a precaution before i reclip again.

i ride all consitions, never bare ice as bo real lakes close by. new tips bolted on. still loosin. thought it was from track to loose. i have antiratchets on but been keeping fairly snug

Do NOT put external drive sprockets with an expertX. Completely a waste of time, money, and efficiency. There is absolutely NO track ratcheting with an ExpertX, even if you have the tension set way lower than spec.

your 100% right on the expert x thing. turks old turkasaurus turbo has a expert x and has no ratcheting even with big boost.
