Hey everyone i was wondering what I can do to gain a few more mph on top end without breaking the bank? I have a 09 shorty and the only mod I have done so far is a Schidmt bros stage II kit which I'm still wondering if i actually lost on the top instead of gaining like i was told (still working on it) but it does work great down low. Buddy bought a 1200 skidoo and Im sick of hearing him already talking how he is going to wipe the floor with me and my Yamaha. I don't really care but I just want to make sure he doesn't walk all over me and wouldn't mind giving him a good scare or beat em lol. I tried doing a search but didn't really find anything useful. Thanks guys.

you will beat him till about 90 then he will reel you in. suspension angle really hurts the shorties. y not call SB and ask them since you have thier kit.

The SB stage 2 is for that low end grunt and drivability. They offer a helix option that will help with top end. I have their stage 2 and love it. Yes, I lost some top end but I ditch bang anyway and not worried about top speed plus I can drive the sled slow if need be. Just like mentioned above call them and discuss it with them.

Ya a hindle kit from Hurricane, or Ulmer would do the trick. Might want to play with your gearing, and maybe machine your clutch to add a few more MPH on the top end also. I know SB, and Ulmer both machine clutches for more top end. All depends where you want your power. Keep in mind you will want your suspension set up to race him also. If your sled doesn't squat, and grab you can have 200HP, and he will get you out of the hole, before you catch up. Just saying
What about going up a size on the top gear? Just thinking about his question, cheap way to add top end for the race. Not sure if it'd work just throwing it out there.

The last time I checked the Nytro is geared to pull 104-106....and that's about that's what most will do on a good day on a rock hard smooth surface. I've tried 22/38 gearing which calculated to around 114 mph....I never got close and I definitely have the power.
The problem with short track Nytro is chassis efficiency...they just don't have it. They have too steep of an approach angle for starters. The Star Suspension relocate kit fixes that problem. On top of that I recommend Hurricanes kit at it is the BEST bang for your buck with regards to HP gains.
RaptorDan has the above mods and same gearing (22/38) and I think he ran around 110-114...I'll see if I can get him to chime in.
I remember discussing this with Allen Ulmer as I read a thread where he tried different gearing combos to get more speed with minimal luck. As he said to me...the Nytro is sensitive to gearing changes, especially if you weigh over 200 lbs....I found him to be correct as I am 225ish ( cough cough). and my sled still ran 100mph
IMO...the chassis is the biggest problem. Short track Nytros and top speed just don't go hand in hand....and I've played with it for 2 seasons in the hunt for more top end.
