Just wondering why you want such a firm seat?

Why do so many seem to want a firm seat? Only the mountain guys should be kneeling on the seats. Be careful what you wish for, I remember my 03 seat :ORC

I agree with Mighty - Firm seats for mtn guys are more important.
A seat plays a role in absorbing bumps too (can almost be considered a part of the suspension system IMO)

I do agree, but when I sat on the proto, that seat was too soft, just like when I sat on the 05's you sank in it. That's not my type of seat.... You want to sit on it and not in it.

I'll take the seat that eats up some of those big bumps anytime!!!
I remember back in the early 80s, SS440, SRV, the biggest reason Yamaha had great rides was the nice soft seat that absorbed the big hits!!!!
That works for me on a 200-300 day ride!!!

Coming from a doo, I like there seats, they are not too hard, but not too soft, jussssstttttt right. I don't like Cat seats either because I think they are too soft. They raised the seats 2 1/2 inches for a reason..... With the new froward design, you want to be looking over the dash and not stairing into like you did in the RX-1.

I agree with him. I bought the GT for comfort while riding long days. I can still feel my back from the SRX seat. LOL!
I guess everyone wants something a little different, but that’s ok. We don’t have to all agree on it…….That’s the beauty of this site….
On my way down to my local dealer to see the first Attack put together. If my old 05 is still there I will compare the W arm's and take pictures as requested by reX.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. At the show in Burlington, Vt. it seemed as all the sleds had different firmness for their seats. The Attack was different than the Apex ER, which was different than the RTX which was different from the Nitro. I'm sure they'll be fine. You don't spend the kind of coin Yamaha did for research and development and retooling for the Apex and then go screw up the seat. Have some faith.

Yes take pictures of the whole thing if you can... Also, sit on the seat and see if it is firmer than the protos or at least firmer than the 05's.[/img]

Mighty, actually the '03 seats were the softest. There just wasn't any padding thicker than 1/4" between your butt and the plastic seat pan. My BOSS seat is firmer than the '03 but feels softer because there is more padding before my fat #*$&@ bottoms out.
It's kinda like what do you do when you feel the shock bottom? You go firmer of course so the ride doesn't feel so harsh. Same goes with a seat firmness. If your butt is hitting the seat pan it doesn't matter how soft the padding is. If the '03 seat was as thick as my High Rise i would bet I would sink about 4 inches rather than just an inch (like I do on the BOSS).

I had a 03 RX1, that seat was the worse. I got on a pol and my #*$&@ was in heaven. I hope that the seat is as soft. That is to say that was the only thing I liked about the pol. The seat still accounts for a good percentage of the rear suspension feel. Hopefully it plush, because I have a Caddillac #*$&@ now

It's not that I want a firm seat to kneel on, I want the firmer seat so that I sit up higher and so that my knees are'nt higher than my quads. That way there it is easier to go from standing to sitting, vice versa.
