I'm still looking at Vipers...and still have a few questions...I went through the FAQ page, and there are sooo many different solutions for different issues (from handling to ride to clutching) that it's kind of confusing.
So much great info...but so many conflicting results..so I apologize up front if any of my questions have already been answered elsewhere.

I was looking at a 2015 stx-dx (141 with a 1.3 cobra, and a few studs down the middle)...I realize it's an uncoupled rear, and probably will not ride as good as an ltx -dx (which is the model I like the most so far)

I like the versatility of the stx-dx to be able to add the two up seat...to take the kids or the wife for a spin...and with the 1.3 cobra...it should be pretty good off trail...but I keep reading that the rear skid rides poor, and is hard to set-up, unless you spend BIG money on shocks etc.... I know cat made a coil over shock for these sleds on their lxr models...is that a good alternative for the air shock?? Also been reading about HELO....would this work or help the ride of this sled? (anybody do this)

As far as speed goes...what are you guys seeing stock with this model...do you need the 8DN set-up to hit 100 MPH? (Ulmer clutch kit or venom kit??)...I don't mind doing a clutch kit...but I don't want to do exhaust or intake mods or fuel controllers...I mean if I wanted to do all that, you might as well just go turbo...Just want a little more top end and pull.

The ski debate is never ending here...it seems though that the dual tuners are hated...I had curves on my 08 attack gt...they were great in loose snow, but hunted and darted badly in certain conditions...I saw where mr sled is running them with slim jim dually's ...my total DOH moment is that I never tried that set-up...because curve told me I couldn't use dually's with their ski's when I called.....so I feel like an idiot for not trying that...because they are a quality product...my question is...has anybody tried Deuce bars on the curves??
I am thinking if I bought any viper I would go to curve or slydog skis with some type of dually runner..as I mostly run trails, and detest darting and hunting a lot more than push in the corners.

Thanks for the info in advance....

Btw...that reflash stuff looks like a real mess....I don't understand that...this engine was in the vector and nitro with ZERO starter issues for years....this has to be a cat issue

I don't know how much my experience can help you, but I love my Viper and it seems to get better every time I ride it. I have a 14 RTX though which is neither of the sleds you are looking at. However, I have had the rear shock revalved because it was way to stiff from the factory and have snowtrackers on the 14 skis and it rides and handles great. Of course I came off a SXR 700 so it was a big upgrade for me. My sled has always run well even though I did have some hard starting episodes with the first flash. Am now on the second flash and will probably keep it at least until Yamaha figures things out with the current one that is just being offered. (There is maybe an EVO flash in my future) Luckily I haven't had any kickbacks and I seem to have one of the good engines that always runs and sounds great. I think it helps that my sled is always kept in the heated garage up north and doesn't usually have any extreme conditions for it's first start up of the day.

As far as top speed, even with clutching, Ulmers Intake, Hindle muffler and extra wheels it takes a really good surface (very little snow) to break 100 easily. I don't really care that much because the sled is fun and torquey and eats bumps that would have swallowed my SXR and broken my back. I realize this is important to a lot of guys on this site and I understand it, but being older I'm just happy to have a fairly new sled and still being able to ride with my buddies. Whatever you buy TY will be here to help you get the most out of it.
