Hey Guys! I already talked to Allan but just wondering if anyone else has seen this. On nov. 30 me and my brother took sleds out to play in a ditch that has good snow in it (4-5"). We ran back and forth for awhile then stopped looked things over (I tightened my track). When all said and done I put on 16 mi. Mine is a 08 RTX. On this last wed. I went to show a buddy my sled in the garage and their was a puddle of oil on the floor right under the belly plate. So last night I removed all the panels and started looking things over and come to find that the oil came through the airbox and ran down out the bottom. I checked engine oil and it is right at the very top of the "H". Also cheked chain case and it is fine. My thinking is, was this oil level over full from the factory or did the hard short blasts cause this. While riding I never got any warning lights of any kind. I would also like to note that my brothers sled is a 07 APEX RTX with with HAUCK exhaust 2 deg. timing key and fuel acc. With zero miles on mine I could run away from him up to about 70 mph. I didnt want to hold too long. But this thing is a Locomotive and I cant wait until that 5-6 hundred mile mark. So after putting thinsgs back together last night I started it up and let it run for about ten minutes. No warnings No Nothing everything seems Just fine. THANKS 1050THMPR!

Did you flip it on its side to tighten the track? This is a common thing on the fourstrokes. The oil tank is vented into the airbox. I would doubt that the oil got pushed into the box from hard accels. The only time where I have leaked oil was when I rolled mine on its side.

No I didnt. Allan asked that very same question. The amount of oil that I found on the floor combined with what I cleaned out of the belly plate was approx. 5-6 oz. With that amount out and the dip stick still reading full just leads me to think it was over full. I know I'm going to get asked this but I DID NOT check oil before the ride, and when I did check the oil the dip stick WAS NOT screwed in. THANK 1050THMPR :whine:

any tipping or rolling and these thigns will blow oil all over...clearly a design flaw...

only really big complaint abotu this sled is how they handle the oil and reservoir...the tank on the side will also leak if it gets a hit to it...

So check the tank also to ensure it did not take a hit and crack the welds right at the bracket/bung...

Talked to Allan again occasionally this can happen, more apt to if the oil level was over full. Thanks for your reply's I'm going to proceed with the understanding all is well. ;)!

Mine does the same thing when ridding hard on the bumps, the oil will splash up the hose and into the air box. I've lost 1/2 qt. in a day! I removed the hose from the oil tank and placed a screen over the outlet and reinstalled the hose. It helped a lot for a cheap fix. Needs a baffle inside the oil tank from the factory.

K&N filters eliminate that particular hose and a breather (looks like a mini k&n) goes in its place. I will be ordering them! SOOOOON. :jump:
