Isaw this post on DT. Can anyone help?
Looking for some help for a Yamaha (I know, but its for a friend).
A friend of mine has a 99 Mountain Max 600 that was wrecked in a pickup accident last year, but the engine is still in good running order.
I found a deal on a 98 SRX 700 in great shape but blown motor. Wondering if anybody has info about swapability of the 600 engine into the 700 frame.
I haven't had a lot of luck even finding a dedicated yamaha forum, and I'm not sure where the best places are to get info for these sleds (been a doo guy for life).
Anybody have some good info for me?
PS I secretly thought this could be a fun swap to put into my 96 GT500, but I'm thinking that would be a nightmare to swap in

Ask MrViper on the 2 Stroke side of TY, I bet he'll know.

Why not compare the parts list for both and see which parts are compatible - mounts, mounting brackets, etc.
Chances are that they are pretty close and should be able to be swapped.

i did a 2000 to 98 swap but they were both 700 s but think the 600 triple sits on same mount or mounts can be changed. all wiring has to be swapped along with primary and stator / pull cord housing. basically make sure you swap almost everything into new chassis and it will make life easier.

Definitely also gonna need the 700 CDI box (ECU) and possibly the engine electrical harness (don't quote me on the wire harness though).
With enough ingenuity, anything is doo-able (pun intended!!). My wheels are turning about a bullet proof Yamaha 4-stroke in a Doo chassis. A reliable sled that CAN handle the bumps and take the abuse.

The mountain max is a red head motor, the srx is a power valve motor. He would need the exhaust from the MM for sure and the wiring harness (as stated already). He may also need the airbox. I'm almost certain the motor will bolt right in but can't confirm this 100%.
The bigger question is why bother putting a 600 non power valve motor into an SRX chassis? It won't be worth squat when done.
He would likely be better off asking on the TY smoker forum. http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/index.php?
