For you guys that have installed the mountain ski, does the shim method work for these skis' or do you have to do something different? I can't believe how deep the keel is on these skis'. I have bought the toilet shims that I read about and got some gasket maker and the screws to apply the shims to the rubber , but I wanted to make sure I get it right the first time. Thanks for any info you can provide, Gene. By the way I got the mountain skis with very little use on them for $125.00 .

skis

you got a real good deal, i paid $220 for bottoms and the hardware to
mount, with 15% off, no loops, i would say you can shim, get back from side of sled and look how they ride before shimming.

I bought the mountain skis for my attak for better flotation. With the stock skis, I had a real problem with darting(is that the right term for getting jerked into others' tracks) so, per good instructions from this forum, I added a flat piece of 3/16 hard rubber shim under the rear of each rubber ski pad, and also added Stud Boy 4.5 deuce bars. Huge improvement. The darting is gone, but if you were a real agressive rider, it feels like it may push through the corners. So, maybe 1/8 shim is enough.

Thanks guys, I was hoping the same would apply for these skis's but the keel seems deeper than the stock ones that's why I asked. I had the darting issue under control last season but I bought the Stud Boy shaper bars and I dropped the front end for the level arms to corner flatter then it started darting again. I got these skis' for better flotation as I eventually want to extend it out to either 144" or 151". The toilet shims are wedge shaped so I think they are perfect for the shim mod. Guess I'll do the mod and see what happens.
