What wire did you tap into , to power the temp gauge?

2007 Yamaha Phazer GT
I tapped into the 12 volt aux (I use it to power the GPS and heated shield). The gauge only pulls 40 milliamps.
I changed how I mounted the gauge. I bolted a piece of angle aluminum to the windshield mounts and mounted the gauge to that. It sits lower and is better protected. I will post pics tonight.

it doesnt stick out that far, about 2 1/2".

I looked at going that route but prefer the gauge closer to the speedo and out of harm's way. Plus I have a RAM mount for my GPS that sits by the speedo too. Everything in the same location.
I used metal insulated 1/2" cable clamps to hold the bar - 2 on each side.
