Has anyone mounted the Yamaha handguards on their XTX yet? With the cross bar above the riser block there doesn't seem to be enough room to the clamp the guard mounts to the bar. I was thinking about cutting the cross bar back on the ends to make enough room for the guard mounts, but really would like to make this a last resort. Any cleaver ideas please.
I have not been able to get them yet cause they are backordered - So I was told.

Yes, you will have to cut the molded rubber grab bar in order to mount them. I have two XF800's in my shop right now, and I can take pics if you'd like. You might have to remove the entire grab bar and then grind off the metal piece that keeps the grab bar from rolling. Again, if you want pics let me know

Yes please send or post those pics. I'm seriously thinking about not mounting them. I have a hard time cutting up my new sled already.2BLUE4U said:Yes, you will have to cut the molded rubber grab bar in order to mount them. How did you get your Yamaha handguards already ? They're supposed to be on back order. Did you purchase the ones that are specific for the Viper ??
I'm not going to want to be cutting my new sled either just to mount some handguards !!

I have about 15 pair of the Viper hand guards in stock, I have had them for a while now if you need a set call me!! 920-687-7080 We have red, blue and black. I think the ROX hand guard set up is much much cooler though if you are looking for options. We installed several sets of the ROX hand guards on customer Vipers and they look excellent.

I don't know. I ordered them a while ago and they showed up less then a week after the sled did. Yes they are the red Yamaha ones from the Yamaha catalog for the viper.freelance said:buckeye rider said:Has anyone mounted the Yamaha handguards on their XTX yet? From what I've seen the handguards mount to the controls instead of around the bars. Here's som pictures from another topic:

The point is that it doesnt matter if its an XTX or not when the original handguards mount to the controls instead of the bars.

JT, I have the same guards but the mounts are aluminum and they clamp on the bars not the controls.JT said:freelance said:JT said:From what I've seen the handguards mount to the controls instead of around the bars. Here's som pictures from another topic:

x2.....thank you.
I gave up on the Yamaha ones I just ordered the Skinz Pro series that velcro on. I should be able to get those to work without cutting and and can take them off easier. I broke 3 sets in the last 2 years on my ProR's just laying the sled over.
And to boot I bought a new set last week for the 2013 Pro R and they changed them and even though they say rush right on them they changed the mounts and they do not clear the brake line on the left side bar!!!! I have 3 of the old style mounts all for the right side no lefts
