Moving Nytro Taillight

I don't believe the stock light melts the snow off either does it?

Its not really an issue, the lights are bright enough to shine through the light snow that may build up on the light. When you stop at a stop sign, just wipe it off.

Ya that is true. The stock light doesn't melt the snow off either. I think I am going have to change my tailight as well. Would be really nice to have that extra space there.

I feel a tail pipe turn would help the light/ice issue. It's a must for me, if I relocate the light I'm putting a tunnel rack on. I need to carry something occassionaly.

getting my light in the mail tommorow from vehiclelights.com, will post a pic of the install over the weekend. :bling

:-o

Ordered a light like MikeA's. I ALSO ordered a wire cable from yamaha for a MTX ( I have an RTX). With the longer cable, I will only have to slice the light end and I won't have to cut my stock light cable. MTX cable was less than $20.

Good idea on the cable. Just a heads up (although I'm sure I'm the only idiot to make this mistake!) but the harness behind the new light is not centered to the light. I found out the hard way, and have a slightly larger hole for the cable than required. I also cut a rubber gasket the shape of the light to soften the contact of the light to the alum.

Good idea on rubber. I'll have to track down some gasket material.

Hmm, maybe PVC door weatherstripping?

I just ordered mine, the custom dynamics 21 LED one.
I don't like the idea of just using the 3M tape to hold it on, we'll see. I post some pics up in a few weeks though.

I've said it before, I had to destroy my metal license plate in order to get it off. It was only held on by 3m double sided. But I guess a couple of metal screws or plastic darts might be some cheap insurance and piece of mind.

One I got looks like it has a screw on each end to hold the cover. I was figuring, zip a longer sheetmetal screw in there or a bolt with locktite.

That 3m tape really holds solid if you apply it right. On a perfectly clean dry surface, thats warm. Not outside in the freezing cold lol

The light is very lightweight so its not like that 3m tape has to hold a ton of weight.

Installed

Got my light installed earlier this week. This is the 21LED CustomDynamics one. Its just a standard running light and brake light setup. Man this thing is bright! I would say its brighter than stock...

I ordered the one from custom dynamics also. The knight riderz 21 led sequential smoked light bar. should look awesome. I also am going to install it with the 3m tape i have used that tape to mount my prybar racks in the doors on my work service truck and with 20 lbs of prybars hanging on them going up and down the road they stayed put. I will post pic when done.

Here is my tail light setup. I made a aluminum box for the stock tail light then tig welded it to my AMP rack
