Hi Guys!
I have a viper with the MPI trail kit. This sled is now almost perfect for me. I am thinking of adding the inner cooler upgrade to it. Does any one with experience with this kit know how much it will improve it? Only thing I don't like about the current set up it is very sensitive to warm weather. Sidewinder would be nice but needs a year under its belt first

Well an inter cooler is always a positive addition you probably would not notice a diff at really cold conditions and running 5#'s of boost but in warmer weather it will make more hp and when increasing boost it will make a bigger diff in hp gained per # of boost

If your air intake is outside the sled then warm weather should not be a issue.

I was thinking about getting the stage 1 innercooler kit. Also crank up the boost a bit.
How much boost/hp can you get on the stock engine. With the new innercooler and fuel pump kit. Safely for trail of course.

Realistically 7.5psi (give or take 1 or 2) at low elevation is tops the stock head bolts will handle for a long period of time. I have been running mine at 6.5 to 7.5 for almost the entire time I have been turbo'd and it just started to push coolant yesterday.. 2000 miles in 2 seasons. Now I have run more on stock head bolts, on different Nytros or Apexs, but not like how I have been riding this Viper. This summer it'll get a built motor and a bump in power
From what I understand the stock pump and injectors are pretty much the same psi. Again maybe more but 7.5 is about the top for PUMP fuel trail use.

Would you be able to send me the type of glasses camera you are using? We discussed it at one of our trail stops last weekend and you like the video it produces and also the long battery life. I'm taking a serious look at these glasses rather than drill holes in my new helmet for a go-pro. Thanks.

the intercooler will help greatly with warm weather power loss and keeping RPMs consistent throughout temperature change. i did this with my hurricane kit. and my home made intake. i now run intake temps about 25 deg above outside temperature. when it was warm before the intercooler 800s would be right next to me. that is 30 deg + weather. when cold there was no chance. now with an intercooler and colder intake the warm weather power loss is gone and even more power when its cold! i believe an intercooler is a must with any kit you have. i watched the vids of the sidewinder, i hope i have a chance to line up with one on my hurricane 190 kit, from what i have seen I'm not worried. they are the fastest stock sled. but mines not stock!

i would not run over 6 lbs without larger injectors. i know an intercooled mpi kit running 7 lbs that started pushing antifreeze. he thought it was a head gasket because it ran great. tore it down and there was denotation on the pistons, block, and the head. ended up being very expensive for him. now he has a head shim, PCV, larger injectors, and all new motor. i will be doing an evo flash and boost tee this summer to go to 7 lbs, the hurricane kit has the fuel capacity to do this.

I'm really thinking of puttin the intercooler on my trail kit. I just don't want to waist 1500 plus tax with no gain.
The other thing is I don't want to be running more boost and burning more fuel. I can't even get 100 miles to tank now. So I'm hoping the innercooler alone will be enough of an upgrade to keep up with the new sleds next year.

when its cold there is not much diff in power. but when its warm out i will run like it does now when cold. another thing that helped mine is i cut the plastic out under the headlight to let air flow through the intercooler. the gems in the mpi kits seem to burn more fuel than the PCV does.

Ya. My sled is defiantly still rich. I feel like I could lean the gems out a bit more but my afr gauge bit the dust half way through the season.

I don't have the intercooler but I do have the outside intake and my Temps read within 5* of outside ambient regardless of warm or cold. Joe, if your intake temps go down the fuel consumption may also suffer. Colder air, more fuel, more power. Just like in a car or truck in the winter, a cold air intake actually hurts mileage if it's truly getting cold air.

I have an MPI kit, no intercooler. 14 RT-X with studs down the middle. Tuner-2s up front with aggressive carbides, medium windshield, gears and hurricane clutching. Im using about 1/2 gallon more fuel at a 6 gallon fill than my friends stock Viper LT-X. I use almost 2 gallons more per tank than my friends stock 14 Apex XT-X. When running with the stock Vipers Im not on the flipper nearly as much and fuel is not a problem but when running with Apexs Im on the flipper a lot more. The sled is awesome, ruff or flat trail does not matter. If I could change any thing it would only be the size of the fuel tank. More HP would only use more fuel and for now this rocket is fast enough.
