MPI stage 2 low boost Can You

If you spin a stage 2 supercharger too slow it will burn out the supercharger drive because it does not pump oil well below a certain RPM

If you want to run 7 psi go to a stage 1 supercharger.

Don't know if this helps or not but my stage 2 Nytro makes 10lbs at elevation with 25/29 pullies.

So the in-the-field Stage-II results posted in this thread look like this:

Apex (sea-level) 1:1 x 9.49 x 10,000 = 94,900 (12lbs boost)

Nytro (sea-level) 0.86:1 x 9.49 x 8800 = 71,820 (7lbs boost)

Nytro (5000ft) 1.16:1 x 9.49 x 8200 = 90,268 (10lbs boost)

supercharger drive does not pump oil well below a certain RPM
Ted’s response makes it crystal clear to me now with the oil pumping issue. That was something I did not know about or had even considered being an issue. There is no mention of it in the Rotrex Technical Data.

If you want to run 7 psi go to a stage 1 supercharger
From now on I will not suggest anyone under-drive a Stage-II for a low-boost (under 7lbs) application. I will suggest a Stage-I.
