That is not really true. You MAY not be able to go with big boost. It turns out, thanks to Ulmer and Hurricane for doing the ground work, that there are two types of rods. Some are heat treated and should be fine for whatever you throw at them and some others that are not. You can check with a file what type you have. If you want to be sure, check it. There is a way to check without pulling out the motor. If the file scratches the rod it is one of the ones made of 'Peanut butter", if not you should be good to go.
