Mpi turbo , afr bung placement

The MPI kit does come with a secondary bung welded on the outlet side of the turbo. The older kits had it on the inlet side. Mine was not drilled out though. If you run a bit that is slightly smaller through it then use a spark plug tap to finish it it's fine. Maybe they started drilling them and plugging them now but mine wasn't.

As for the gauges I ran the AEM AFR all winter and it worked really well other than the fogging issue mentioned above. I never had any issues seeing it. There is a wire that is supposed to hook up to a dimmer circuit in a normal car. If you leave it unhooked the gauge will be at it's dimmest setting all the time. Maybe that's why everyone is having problems reading them in the daylight?? Mine is bright as hell.

For the boost I'm running the AEM analog one. Never had any issues with it either.

Must have been poor quality control at mpo yamahatim and mine were like the 5th 6th stage 1's received by hack in November of 2013 and both were drilled and plugged

Mine is the brand new trail turbo set up. I was just referring to the older kits having the O2 sensors on the inlet side of the turbine (high pressure side) instead of the outlet side(low pressure). They are supposedly more accurate if installed on the low pressure side.

So your kit should be the same as the one I'm getting with my spring order?

How does the air intake look fitted under the hood?

I had actually called mpi and he told me something like since Yamaha was not using guages they wherent installing the bungs. So he must have ment they aren't drilling them.

The bung is on the muffler now the 2013 stage 1 kits were pre-turbo. You just need to drill it out.

That must have been a change after they introduced them at Haydays Last September, Cause Matt told us at the show the basic unit (pipe from header to turbo, the turbo and the exhaust) was the same just had the electronic boost controller and the intercooler was deleted for just an air box.

It does suck I have to drill it out. I would say it would be best to drill before it's installed so I can be sure there's no medal chips left, and where the dealer is installing the turbo I will have to pay them to do it. I really wish Yamaha would have included guages in this kit, I can't see anyone wanting to run a turbo without guages

Where Re you guys getting the boost air from for the boost gauge?
