None of the 2015 kits have an issue.

Let's see how long it takes Yamaha to get me the new controller.
Would it be better to just go through mpi?

Just to verify its the single red wire with a white connector next to the airboxYamaha knows about the issue and there will be a TSB released. There will be new electronic boost controllers shipped out and then old ones will be returned.
If you want to run your sled, simply unplug the red wire going to the electronic boost controller, this will bypass it and run just off the wastegate setting (4-5 psi).

We at MPI would like to profusely apologize for the mistake in programming the EABC (Electronic Altitude Boost Controller). This is the small black box withOUT any buttons that controls Turbo Boost. MPI Mountain Turbos in 2014 and early 2015 did NOT have electronic boost control (Yamaha Part # SMA-8KS17-00-TB ) and are NOT affected by this notice. Yamaha Low Elevation and All Altitude Kits (Yamaha part # SMA-8JP17-00-TB ) HAVE electronic boost control. You can simple remove the Right Hand Side cover and visually look for the solenoid with 2 hoses as shown in the 3rd figure. If you have no solenoid you do not have electronic boost control and no further action is required.
Electronic Boost Units were mistakenly programmed with a Stage 2 code (this code is NOT compatible with Pump Gas and is NOT compatible with a Stock Motor). IMMEDIATELY UNPLUG either the Red Wire to the EABC (option 1) OR UNPLUG the 2 wire connector to the Boost Solenoid (option 2). Either option will put the Electronic Boost Controller into a “DEFAULT” mode which will produce a SAFE 4 to 5 PSI of Boost. There is no safety liability to driving with the EABC bypassed; you simply will not see boost increase as you increase altitude. Be sure to not disconnect the 3 wire connector to the boost sensor. The wiring to the boost sensor and the GEMS (flat box with 3 buttons and 8 lights) MUST remain connected. Re-Flashed Units can be identified by a WHITE or GREEN paint dot on the phillips screw’s head.
There are 3 ways to correct the problem:
MPI will coordinate all efforts. Please use email Sales@MountainPerformance.com or phone 888-649-4609. See attached pictures for bypass options.

There are 3 ways to correct the problem:
- Contact your Dealer. He will contact MPI and we will arrange to have a replacement unit available when you bring your unit in for correction. Once the dealer has performed the exchange, he will send the mis-programmed units back to us.
- If an individual wishes to send his unit in Directly for Re-programming: Please contact MPI via Email sales@MountainPerformance.com (we will answer phone calls, but you will need to send a photo in addition to the phone call). Please provide 5 things 1) Dealer Name & Address where kit was purchased, 2) Your Name & Address for US mail, 3) your email & phone #, 4) Vehicle Serial Number, and 5) a picture of your proof of purchase (invoice) for the kit OR a picture of EABC unit showing the phillips screw’s head. We will contact you with a Pre-Paid call Tag and shipping instructions to Dobeck Performance. Your unit will be re-programmed and returned within 24 business hours.
- If an individual wishes to receive a replacement unit before sending your original unit: Please contact MPI via Email sales@MountainPerformance.com (we will answer phone calls, but you will need to send a photo and provide credit card info in addition to the phone call). Please providing 5 things 1) Dealer Name & Address where kit was purchased, 2) Your Name & Address for US mail, 3) your email & phone #, 4) Vehicle Serial Number, and 5) a picture of your proof of purchase (invoice) for the kit OR a picture of EABC unit showing the phillips screw’s head. We will contact you via telephone for Credit Card information. We will authorize $100. If the unit is returned to Dobeck within 7 business days, you will not be charged anything. If, after 7 business days from the date we sent the replacement, and we have not received the original unit, we will process the charge for the $100 core.
MPI will coordinate all efforts. Please use email Sales@MountainPerformance.com or phone 888-649-4609. See attached pictures for bypass options.

Is there a batch of serial numbers on the controllers that would help identify if anyone has the wrong ones installed. I had my dealer install my mpi trail turbo last week. Thanks for the help.

@Support@MPI , can you confirm that this is only 2016 model kits, or are last years kits affected, also? I've got a 2015 low elevation kit w/ elec boost control installed last year with about 2000 miles on it, no issues yet.

Obliviously you don’t have the stage 2 code. But there is another glitch when atmospheric pressure is below sea-level. I suggest doing the by-pass and getting the EABC relfashed with the new code which solves both problems.
