I kown this is early, and the data spec sheets have not been released yet but....what changes in gearing and or clutching do ya think we will need to make for riding the MTX at 0-1200' elevations. I believe that they may come with 7t drivers and 3.0 pitch track!

Probably something similar to the Phazer Mtn Lite. Had to change from the 17 tooth to a 19 tooth gear and some clutching mods. The snowcheck form for the Nitro MTX states that it will have to be recalibrated to be used at sea level, but no specifics.

Well I guess I will need to pay attention to this on mine also. If you don't change will the Max RPM's be to high?

With the stock gearing your rpm's will be much higher. It was really evident during break in period. Max rpm of 8000 for the 1st 180 km was about 25 - 30 km/hr. Painfully slow.

So will this be a concern for me.. I have an MTX coming and I'll be riding it between 1500' to 3000'? My dealer never mentioned anything about recalibrating for low elevation.

I believe you will need to make the changes. It is noted in the small print of the deposit form item #5. It states "Given that Mountain models are calibrated for high altitude usage, it is the dealer's and customers' responsibility to recalibrate and modify these units if they are to be used at sea-level"

I think the gear, clutch work and labour for it was about $100.

Thanks go200mph.. I'll keep an eye on what will be needed. I'm also interested in how the 2.25 track will be. I won't be riding this sled unless the conditions are good but thats alot of paddle for the North East.

We will have a Nytro MTX at low elevation (1500 feet) and will have clutching & gearing setups for it.

Thanks Allen, keep us posted....also interested in a roller secondary. I used a Ligthning Pro on my Attak....would like to maybe try a TEAM on this sled.

Do you remember what clutch work they did? I'm thinking if it was $100 than it was spring(s), no weights. I have a 51/43(Yamaha) helix that I'll probably try.......

the way i understand it, basicly you can have the sled set up for whatever you do. if you want high alt, set it for high alt, if you are a flat lander and never go high or outwest. just have the dealer install the low alt stuff. first proper set up is free.

the switches will be weights, cam, springs and gears. it will need it all.

Not every dealer includes all that altitude tuning with the purchase. Many give it to you straight of of he crate and at Yamaha's elevation specs. If you want the clutching and gears and other goodies changed out, you will more than likely be paying for it. Just my experience.

Can someone post gearing and clutching stock for the Nytro MTX ???

And does someone know about low elevations gearing and clutching ???

Errol

The protoytpe mtn had 8fs weights (apex mtn high alt weights) and the short tracks had the 121 apex weights in it... My guess is there will be a weight change along with helix, gearing and springs.
