MTX Utility sled

I'm an oldschool farmboy brought up on one lunger sleds & still use them daily....elans, bravos & tundras. These new utility sleds are so damned big & bulky & expensive.....I just cant get my mind around using one. They wont go in half the areas my old telans, undras & bravos will go in. Seems to me the phazer mtx with the narrow stance might have potential to be a combo fun sled and also possibly be a modern utility sled to some degree.

This might not be realistic as it seems that these sleds are somewhat fragile. But I have to throw this out & see what you guys think. I have a bunch of acreage in Vermont & really dont do much high speed trail riding anymore...just old cartroads, fields & around the farm type riding. I'm looking for a sled that could be fun for my wife & kids & also myself....but also a sled that I could throw a chainsaw & or misc stuff on the back of.

I have high hp sleds for hitting the groomed trails so I doubt I will even register the phazer. Currently for around the farm & utility work I use a few old ski doo tundras, phazers & elans. They are great sleds for certain applications but I'm looking for something that is more than a 12 hp one lunger....lol!!

Has anyone tried utilizing the back space on the MTX's for a rack? I realize the tail section might need to be beefed up. I have access to an aluminum welder to modify if needed. I'm not looking to put a ton of weight back there...just maybe a 15 pound chainsaw at most. I will only be covering a couple mile radious of our house so I really dont think I will have issues.

What do you guys think? I like yellowknife's setup that he did back in 2007....not sure how that worked out or if anyone else has tried the same?

Any thoughts opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Phazers a great sled for puttering around, but not great for hauling stuff on the tail. The stock suspension will bag right out if you put any kind of weight back there, and the exhaust is back there keeping everything nice and toasty. I remember seeing a Front rack on sleds a few years ago, that might be an option, kind of handy to not be looking behind to see if you still have your saw all of the time too.
