Monday I left the beautiful, perfectly groomed trails of Cadillac, for my U.P home. Some things never change, and the Munising trail grooming is one of them.

There is very little traffic here, and it looked like they might have groomed last week-end. Their web site says all trails are groomed, and they are out ther grooming now. Monday I rode par tway on the Munising system, on bumps, turned around, and rode south of 440 on freshly groomed, beatiful trails. I had to go the Christmas yesterday, so rode ungroomed trails all the way. On the way back, the trail had just been groomed. This was about 3PM

They did their usual panning job, dragging loose snow into the holes. It looked great, but was still rough.

I give up. I'm riding South from now on.

Bruce Crossing trails in the western part of the u.p. are always bad. no matter what snow contitions are there, they never keep the trails up. i feel your pain.

I've had enough of Munising, if it weren't for the TY group rides I'd never go there by choice.

The Trails around Seney North to Grand Marais and East to Newberry are usually pretty well taken care of. At least they were last year when we stayed in Curtis........3 days of great smooth trails with not a lot of traffic. We were there the 3rd week of January.

GE ;)!

Come a little further East but South of Paradise/Taquamenon Falls area. Grooming is usually frequent and fantastic, conditions/funding permitting.

Munising/Wetmore = Worst trail conditions in the U.P. Their Chamber can be proud of that title.

All the other trail systems I have ridden the last few years are excellent most of the time. Munising trails are groomed by cement truck drivers, and they are paid. Most are not snowmobilers, and do not groom properly. I'm not blaming the drivers. The fault is with the person that has the contract. In my opinion, He doesn't give a damn, and the visitor bureau doesn't give a damn.

They have had many complaints, and nothing changes.

I have contacted the president of MSA, who owns a Motel in Seney, and got no response. MSA, and the DNR have also done nothing.

The other areas all have volunteer groomers, and their trails are great.

I rode from Munising to Kalkaska a few years ago, and all the trails were great, wit the exception of Munising.

Great seeing you again yooper!
