i have an 03 shorty my friend has an o4 shorty both have 144 picks, his are new mine are a year old
03 has a woodys power up kit which includes overdrive sheave, geared down, helix, both clutch springs, gutted airbox and carberator springs
04 is stock
99% of the time he gets me on take off and stays about 1-2 sleds ahead. on rolling starts(most speeds) he takes me and though we have not had a long enough stretch it seems like we are even till 90mph then he starts to go by
i changed my control rods to the upward line and this helped, for the rolling starts i found that i was running my center shock way to loose and was squirrelly at high speeds changed this and this helped
but all and all he still edges out,is this the nature of the beast? have i made a wrong modification? any help would be nice

Gearing down will hurt your top end. His track will kill yours on hookup. Have you changed your jetting to compensate for the airbox mods and springs? Have you changed your needle position?

yes i changed the jetting, are there any other mods i could try? are the o4 improved that much

Gutting your airbox was a big mistake, go back to stock !

y was this a mistake? what about the k&n filters?

K&N's work as they use two filters so carbs are paired up and vacum is correct.
