Let me tell you ,if ANYONE trys to say the Apex isnt a bump sled Ill kick their #*$&@ on trail and off.
Ony trails open in SW ontario was Shelburn , and let me tell you everyone else musta known it too.
We got there in the 1.30 ish timeframe, me and a bud of mine who rides a 00 Doo ZX with a 02 700 Twin with some mods.
This dude aint no pussy when it comes to riding either.

Anywho, the trails were beat to shyte, bare spots, water holes and mogals galor.

This thing is sickening fast, and just so much fun to ride.
On the trails its nothing lees than insane to ride, soaking up the bumps like a hero.
My 03 or 04 Rev were nothing like this.

I opted to remove the Fox floats for a set of the GYTR shocks off the GT, I love them.
The sled at 1st was darting all over the place ,I have Simmons skis on the front with 4 and 6" runners.
Put some ski pressure in and it took away most of the darting .
Bottomed out a few times, I have a 6.5 mm spring to install , Ill do that this week.

While out we saw alot of revs , I was hoping one wanted a piece of me ,I would have been glad to give them a run. :D :moon:

Handwarmers were OK, at best, but if it was cold out the verdect might be different.
It overheated once , but I stopped and opend the rad cap to burp it , Also put in some watter at same time.
I also had previously checked the antifreeze and yes it was 100% glycol.

I check the idlers were pitting, Ill check tomorrow , I bet they are shot too.
Also noticed the shock has been touching the track.
We also noticed a burning rubber or plastic smell, anone else get this?

I installed a set of Powermadd pivot riser and 6" riser block, this is great to stand up for me now.
I can stand and ride or jump standing, being 6'3 sucks sometime, not alot but sometimes.

Put on 50 miles today, just a short rip, but was good to dust the cobwebs out of our bones and get to do what we love to do.

Hoping to get out next weekend with the G/f
Scott

Stupid question but i'm mechanically stupid how do you check the antifreeze to determine if it's 100% Glycol my 05 overheats fairly easy yet according to my dealer it's the right mix ( I want to verify for myself)

Thanks in advance

Go to local auto parts suppier, say Autozone for you in US.
Get a meter to measure the antifreeze levels.
Too much antifreeze wil work against you as with too little

Ok i'm mechanically stupid not dumb lol :D I know about the meter think i have one around here somewhere even :D Seems to me it shows you how cold your antifreeze is good for! Does pure antifreeze show as only good for zero or -100?? thats where i become stupid if it says good to 30 below zero should i assume that means i have a 50/50 mix?

Thanks

The smell could be one or two things.. It could be the hyfax melting.. Or it could be that new sled smell............... All that excess grease and oil burning off.. ;)! MM.

I would say Hifax also or "new" sled. I had the same thing.

Yea we wondered about that, but the snow was not great but pretty good on the trsails.
I also know enough to get off to the side to get some lube on here and there.
Either way better smell than a new doo, they just plain stink when new.
Come to think about it, they allways stink of 2 stroke oil hahaha.

i had the same problem this past weekend.
poor snow conditions and the temp light comming on. the stink i was smelling was hyfax. i am assuming yours was too

Steve i guess they dident understand your post,so how can someone check to see if his antifreeze is 100% or not,do you need some special gage??? :bling

I didnt need a specail gauge , being a mechanic I just know when it is and when it has water added.
Taste test for how low the coolant is good for.
JUST KIDDING on the taste tests.
If it pure antifreeze then it wil just gel up and wont cool.
