kinger said:morq- where is the wear? In one spot or the entire slide?
Yes morg, where is the wear?
Is your extension kicked up?
I have an 06 Nytro with the same skid and my TracksUSA 144" kicked up extensions are in the basement and going on the sled this weekend. Hope the slide wear is an easy fix
While the wear is occurring all along the slider, the most severe wear, down to the rail, occurred in two main spots, one in the rear, one in the front. The marginal snow kit helped marginally.
Does anyone know the stock diameter of the stock Yammi idlers? It's too cold to go look tonight lol Thanks

They should be 5.125"
So would the 6-1/2" Doo or Polaris wheels be the ones to use, with the 6205 bearings?
Thanks
Thanks

As I mentioned earlier, there are some very good threads on the details of the wheels and mods...do a search.

Not to beat a dead horse, but scratchers are IMHO the best answer. Bigger wheels too.
I run scratchers religiously on all of my sleds in all conditions and I have minimal slider wear......

No.. The Doo and Polaris wheels are only 5.350 only 1/8 of an inch bigger all around,
You could never fit a 6 1/2 wheel as a idler back ones are 7" so idler can't be 6 1/2
Do a search like Grimm said, Rockerdan has a write up on how to do this step by step with part #'s too.

Ok thanks. I read Dan's post and will try that for sure. Thanks again

you guy should try supper slippery slides they only run about $80.00 a set they work great the only place you can get them id from Hi-performance entering or your dealer and get them snow stuff, they are made of silcone and some other stuff we find that they work great we have been using them since 97 when they first came out i bought the last box from them to fit those sleds and have found that they are not hard on the track clips, i tried the other day to order some but snow stuff had to change the mold because they where on staying or holding on well so they are not going to be available until mid december. but i would highly recommend these slides they are gray in color.

Their is no miraculous cure for this problem. As the rider it is your responsibility to make sure that when you are riding, the skid is packed with snow. This keeps your Hyfax from melting.
Most guys fire up their sleds, and head out full speed after a few seconds. This is the wrong thing to do both for your engine, and your Hyfax.
I start up my sled, let it warm up, and meanwhile I shovel snow into my skid. Then I put down ice scratchers, regardless of where I am riding. I have the slidekick ones which are somewhat mediocre, but the new Yammi cable scratchers look like they would work better.
I've burned up a few Hyfax's even still, but they can always be traced back to forgetting to put the scratchers down, or laziness on my part not putting snow into the skid when I start up the sled in the morning.
If you don't follow common sense with your Hyfax, you can burn it up in 30 miles or less. It doesn't take more than a minute or two to get it hot enough to melt, at which point your track clip will quickly wear it down.
Putting lots of oversized wheels on your skid is a solution which may work, but it doesn't fix the underlying hyfax problem, which is that their is no possible way for a piece of plastic to handle the friction of a 150HP track without heating up and melting, thus you either need to drive slower or figure out how to cool down your Hyfax.

I was not saying this a miraculous cure for this problem but is a better answer to help and if you try them they do work well.

mud99 i do the same now,
we used to ride the icy roads with little snow cover on them had to change slides every night over a few cold ones,
i think a lot of slider wear comes from riding in marginal snow,
i did 0ver 4k last year riding my apex gt and i still have half of the sliders left (no joke) all 4K were on snow covered trail,
do what mud99 suggests and you will be fine
