My new Doo hyfax and larger 5.35 wheels on the Attak.

I'm from Zumbrota and ride in same conditions as you locally. Last season 500 miles on hyfax and they needed replacement, maybe could get couple hundred more. For this year I went with pioneer perf. offset kit, heat exchanger, fourth wheel kit and tuning fork billets. With 1400 miles on for the year I have very little wear.

2000km with scratchers and my slides have not moved from 12mm. Very impressed going to go at least a year without changing them once

I dont get the problems with the Hyfax.... I do have an Apex, so it isn't Apples to Apples.
I have over 2900 miles on my origional slides, they have been stuck once, and they were broken in with a 100mile ride on an ice covered river.
My opinion is, people get too anxious to change the slides.
They will wear down to the point wear the wheels keep the track pressure off of them and stop.
Put new slides on, they will wear to the same point. I have been running my slides on the wear mark for a year now.
2900 miles on slides should show there is not an inherent wear problem with our suspension, although I know every machine is different.

For sure. They burn down to 12mm and stay there forever. Once 10mm shows up it's time to scrap em

the larger wheels are what are helping the most..

I had 3200 miles on my slides last year and probobly could have gone another year on them.. they were worn evenly and not wavy..

In the past i was lucky to get 1000 miles out of a set of slides..

The key is the bigger idlers 5.35. Did both the wife and daughter RX1S last season and got to seasons of riding and the slides on them look new yet. Checked out my apex ltx out and the only worn spot was at the front idler wheels. Installed two new larger wheels but the way weather looks won't know untill next season.

I don't get the doo vs yami sliders...for that matter OEM vs aftermarket. They all seem the same to me unless you get into some of the graphite stuff. I'd bet the wheels made the dif. The Larger diameter most likely reduces the initial wear in.

i have a couple sets of "garland" sliders coming for my xtx and 06 rtx,im not 100% convinced that the material is that much different but im gonna try it for my self and see,i know the garland brand and the stock yamaha sliders do "feel" different when you try to cut them with a razor knife,from my experience the narrower sliders run coller than the wide sliders,must be the extra air getting through the holes,i will post when i have tried the garland brand and know the results
