WOW! First of all thanks Shaf for the great sled and for bringing it down to me!
I just came off of a 05 RX-1 that got totaled. I had enough time to put about 1,800 miles on my RX-1 before it was totaled so I had a good feel for it and loved every second of it.
The new rider forward on the Apex is amazing, that along with the riser makes it a perfect combination. I have never felt more comfortable standing up or sitting. The sled has the aftermarket spring in it. I am weighing in at about 175 with gear on and there is no way I would take this spring off. I love to ride hard and I have no concerns now with being to hard on the shock.
There is a whole new growl to this sled that you hear up front. I love it. I was debating on whether or not to stud this sled after riding my RX-1 studded, but after a ride this weekend I decided against it. It hooks very well in the hard packed. The acceleration is amazing just like it was on my RX-1, only better.
I had my first run in with a F7 already. Nothing real official and don't know anything about the sled other then it was a red F7. I am running completely stock no studs no nothing on a hard packed Houghton Lake. I was probably going about 50 or so when he pulled along side of me and we both hit it. I had a little bit of a jump and may have pulled a little bit. We ran probably 1-2miles wide open. I saw 122 on the speedo. I was very happy. I know those F7's are fast. I also know I do not need to add oil and pulled around 14-15MPG this weekend!

The sled does have inside ski lift, but I do enjoy it to an extent. It is fun to me to pick up one ski on the lake on purpose. It also makes the sled feel light. With the crisp throttle response (VERY RESPONSIVE) it is very easy to pick this sled up.
Now, for some things I noticed that were a bit of an issue. Not a big deal at all and I still love this sled more then anything I have ever owned or rode for that matter.
Hand warmers were not cutting it at -2 actual temp Saturday night. VERY cold hands. Anything above like 5 or so they are fine.
Ice buildup in the rear up the tunnel. I did some deep snow riding on Saturday and some trail riding. Sunday morning there were huge chunks of snow frozen on the back of the snow flap at the top of the tunnel. Some pounding with the hammer fixed this.
Hood panels will take some getting use to but I know will get easy with time. I was shocked to see like 8-9 steps in the owner’s manual to change a fuse though. No big deal, I will just have to get the hang of it.
Yamaha rules and this sled flat out rocks!
On a side note: If you need something for your sled or have questions, look up Kevin at Port Yamaha. He is more then willing to help you out. Great customer service and great prices. Thanks Kevin.
