My Transfer Rod broke today and I have a couple of questions

Mike,

I have my transfer rod set to maximum but was wondering if I would be better off in a hard packed snow (not ice) drag race with it removed?

My transfer rod backed off 2 years ago and destroyed rod and track on 06 Apex Gt which was never touched since new. Yamaha warrantied every thing except the track because it was studded. :o| No trouble since, because I used a hammer and chisel on nuts for a precaution. ;)!

the rep looked at my sled today and i will only know next week if its warrantied,i was shocked,i thought for sure that this was gonna be covered under warranty

My dealer told me he was 90% sure they are going to warranty mine..

THey told my dealer that this is a issue they have been having..

They said the transfer rod can break if you set it to maxium transfer from the amount of load it takes..

well, they are installing a new track and transfer rod on my sled next week all on warranty,i was happy to hear that, ive been riding the sled without the rod and everything is ok so far :yam: :yam:

I put my new transfer rod together today and broke the 14mm Hex bolt that goes in to the end of the rod. Tight is tight and too tight is broken. I am really pissed. Now i have to order another freakin part. I am leaving for Qubec on Wednesday. Anyone know of a place I can call first thing Monday morning that would be willing to Fedex a part to me. I don't care what shipping costs.

I did that and rode it that way today. I would like to have the correct part for my trip to Canada. I don't want any problems when I am a 100 miles away from my hotel.

Don’t even waste your time. If you hook up with no transfer rod, you’ll put it up on the rear wheels and that’s even if you lean forward on the tank. Been there done that. Transfer is good drag raceing, but to much loses hp and traction.

If you remove the transfer rod, won't that let the arm collapse into the rear wheels? I use to remove the coupling blocks from Arctic Cats but there was always plenty of clearance.
