My Vector Review - the good and the bad

Just checked my hyfax, almost no perceivable wear at all. Seems like multiple 100+ mph runs aren't hurting the hyfax. Maybe the Doo wheels are doing their job.

Well, I found one element that is detrimental to handling while looking at my sled today. With the sled sitting flat on the ground, the limiter strap has quite a bit of slack in it. Not the best setup for flat cornering! Going to tighten it up 1 hole to start with. I also adjusted the transfer rod to two clicks towards max transfer as measured by the adjustment wrench. Should help to keep skis flatter and on the snow.

I wish Yammi had reasonably priced spring selections for their sleds. I would like to have dual-rate springs on the font end to get the front to sit even lower to the ground. The stock linear rate springs are pretty stiff, and even with all preload taken off I still only get about 2" of static set-in at most. On my past sleds I liked to have at least 3-4" of total front end static compression. I guess this is one area where the floats have an advantage.

Gotcha! Hope it handles better for ya. Being new to Yami last year I went through the same problems with the handling. This site is great for useful info for us newbs.

Exactly! I spent a couple of hours yesterday searching through the Apex archives, looking at setups that people have tried and what worked, what didn't work.

Seems the biggest single handling change for most people came from adjusting the transfer bar for less weight transfer. After that, some people sucked up the limiter 1 hole, others 2 holes, some were using the stock setting.

There are also people who dropped their front end so the A-arms are parallel to the snow. I can't do that with my sled due to the stiff stock springs (2.3kg/mm or around 126lb/in).

I believe the 10.5" length Cat front suspension springs will fit this sled, so if I decide to lower my front end I am going to try either linear rate 110lb/in springs or maybe even the 80/125 dual rate spring. Cat springs are only about $35 per side so you're not out a whole lot of $$ if it doesn't work out.
