Need a replacement header and turbo for a CPR kit on an Apex

thanks guys called Dave today and ordered a header. Will a 2860 clear the plastic might go that rout. should I get the down pipe? Will there be any peformance to gain running that turbo at 10 to 12.
Mine is the 2554 might be over worked at my elevation?

yes the 2860 will clear the plastics have to redo all of the heat shield. Doing the bigger turbo without the downpipe is useless. Maybe 20-30 HP gained at same boost levels. Get dave to give you the cam timing specs as well to fully benefit as well.

Talk to Jim(lakercr) or turk to help you with the new clutching you will need.
Doing all these upgrades is a night and day differance betweenfrom the 2554.

thanks aja I don't know any one around here that can do cam timing and don't think I want to do it but that might be a good time to torque the head bolts. Aja are you still running the cpr intercooler.
Buying all that i'm half way to buying a kit from Dave.

Yes I am running a CPR intercooler and turbo with down pipe. Couldn't swing a header this year, just had to get mine rewelded at CPR. Cracked last year and jeff took good care of it. If money isn't the case(which is always rare) I would go for the Rapid bike 3 as well. That box works good!!

Make sure you get daves or Ted Jennettys antifreeze lines for the turbo as well. And do not forget the oil restrictor!!

I just went through the same thing you are doing now.

Cam timing is easy see if dave can give you an install DVD and it will show you how to do it.

Aja what turbo are you running? How did you run the return line off the turbo its not a very straight shot and I always have alittle oil comming out the turbo I use about half a quart every 7 to 800 miles.

Oil use is an issue, make sure that it isn't going into the intake, Check your intercooler and charge tube for oil. This could be due to CPR kit with no oil restrictor, Turbos do not like 70-80psi of oil, it bleeds through the seals into the exhaust and intake, From what I have been told anyway.

I am running the same turbo you are getting from dave. My oil return line goes from the turbo straight down to the gear reduction cover behind the driven clutch. Just drill and tap for a 3/8 brass hose barb and shave off what ever is inside the cover flush.

Mine is going to the valve cover. I do have a jet in the supply line. there is oil in the cooler always has been but not much. thought ther might be a better route for the return oil.
