i recently bought a used 04 rx warrior and i love it but when i line it up against a rx-1 the rx-1 blows me away??? the warrior seems fast but the rx-1 is so much faster and snaper? just wondering if anyone else line them to up and what the results were? or could the warrior just need a tune up

I have same sled as you.My buddy has an 04 Rx-1 and I beat him from strat to finish.I even have more top end them him.One thing that I think that is over looked on these sleds is the plugs and coils. The plugs hardly ever foul out completely but they do stop working as well as they should. One day we were racing and my sled was just flat not missing or anything like that but just would not pull like it had and he was beating me.So I pulled plugs out and 2 of them were kind of wet and shiney.Put new plugs in and sled ran great and handed him his a$$.2 yrs ago I replaced all 4 coils as they would no longer stay snaped down they were wore out what a difference performace wise. Another thing to check is you limiter strap lots of guys pull these way up to help cornering (it does help) but you lose lots of traction and just spin like crazy.I have 12,500 miles on mine and I dare say it is as fast now as it was with 1000 miles.Have riding this winter.

Out of the box the warrior will take that shorty any time off the line.carb sync and a good cleaning would be a good idea. Also clean those clutches and take a good look at everything to see if it is stock or played around with.

Right, so assuming both sleds are stock then you both have the same engine and power. The Warrior has more traction with its longer footprint and should always get the hole shot. Are either of you running studded tracks?
The other two variables are the clutch and gearing. Yes you should clean the clutches but you could also consider modifying the stock clutching for the drag race depending upon how you are losing the race (hole shote, mid-range, or top end). Some concept for gearing.

the sleds are both stock they both have have studs down the middle. the warrior dont get a good hole shot but towards the top it starts picking up speed instead of pulling hard all the way threw hole middle and top

You should be hitting 9800ish rpm out of the hole & then climb to 10,200 rpm on top for best performance. If your not even close something is wacked in your clutching. The rpm,s tell ya what is going on in your clutching.

two easy performance boosters for the rx1 or warrior, install an orange-silver-orange yamaha primary spring, and a silver yamaha secondary spring wrapped at 70 degrees. other free tips are, remove and wash foam in airbox, remove and clean coils inside and out with brake clean or similar solvent, set belt height in secondary to maximum without it squealing in primary at idle.check clutch alignment, offset and paralellism(sp).these are a few of the hundreds of things that can be done to gain performance.
