We'll I have an 2006 GT I bought new.
First problem I had when I first wrode it was it would bottom out real bad.I weight about 220 pounds. So I went to yamaha and the next heavier spring for the ohlins shock.I installed it and set the spring to 10 3/4 inch and when I sit on it I drops 1 3/4 inchs. So I think this should be all set.The sled does not bottom out anymore but I bucks so bad that the sled is like always out of control. If you do over a bump about 8 inches about 20 mph the back of the sled will bounce off the ground then the sled darts all over the place.
I just took it to a place in webster that rebuilds shocks and told me to take it to a dealer that it should be under warr.He said the shock oil leaking out of it and needs to be overhaul or replaced.
So I called three dealers around my area and they don't want to work on it.They told me to take it back to the selling dealer. We'll thats like 2 hour drive.two of the dealer was not in the area a year ago.Nice customer service.I've got 540 miles on it.
I'd like to get it fixed but Don't know if I should take the big hit and trade it in for something else.
I love the motor and power the motor makes.
I let my wife drive it she drove it about 5 miles and got off the sled and started walking to the cabin and told me to get rid of it.She said it scared the hell out of her.
I quess I'm looking at what you guys think of the rear suspenion and what I should do for setup.Looks like I have to get the shock repaired first.
Can this suspetion be setup to smooth the bumps out or should I just get out of it.
I do all my riding in ADK NY

Ya what was messed up is if I adj rebound or dampening. There was no change in ride at all.My last sled was SRX 700 triple and I wish I never got rid of it.The only thing I don't miss with SRX was pulling it over hehehe

Well, if the shock is blown clicker adjustments will do little to nothing. Get the shock rebuilt.

Well if you didn't appreciate the sled, at least it made for a funny comment.

what dealers did you try??? Where is walworth??? I took mine to caprara bros. outdoor toy store in pulaski, not too far from tug hill. they did a fantastic job at taking care of my problems. The # is 315-298-5779 Who cares where you bought it, they still get paid for service work.

Many times when you're dealing with warranty issues the dealer needs to jump thru hoops with the manufacturer to get some if not all things covered. The original selling dealer is more apt to do this for you.06RTXRider said:Who cares where you bought it, they still get paid for service work.

i think the sled is shot & not worth fixing, I'll take it off your hands & give you $5k for it right now. when do you want me to pick it up?
seriously, take it to the dealer where you bought it. that's the downside from not buying local. I did the same thing(bought out of town to save $$), but my local dealer has been good to me on any issues that have come up. looks like my next sled is back to local dealer.

I don't care what they say, they have to fix it under warranty even if you bought it elsewhere. That is part of the deal with the franchise. Now, they may try to say you have to wait until they have time when they are not taking care of their own customers. This is all B.S. This happened to me several years ago and I called Yamaha and the dealer had to do the work. It is in their best interest anyway. They get paid. Tell them to do it or your next sled will not be purchased from them either. If they give you s**t, call Yamaha. It works.

Apparently you don't run a business yamahey. I do and I'm hear to tell you my customers get the priority period. I'm also going to the mat quicker for my customer.

Speaking of blown shocks, I think I may have an issue myself. Most of the issues I've been hearing about have been on the GT's but as you can see I've got the RTX. Last weekend I was cleaning it up and decided to check the RA adjuster. It didn't seem to do anything on my last trip and I finally got a chance to look at it. It didn't seem to do anything. When I first got the sled the difference from min to max was very noticable, now nothing. Is there any way to verify that my shock is blown? Please help.

Yes Mighty, you give them priority, but if you have a Yamaha franchise you cannot tell someone with a valid warranty that you won't fix it. If you buy a GMC any authorized dealer will fix it under warranty. And why would you not fix it if you get paid. Next time he will by from you. But, my point is you can't refuse to do the work. Might take longer until you get to it, but you will do it.
