need help with new clutch kit

I have an Apex, and recently purchased a Hauck clutch kit. The kit came with primary weights, helix, and both springs. The secondary spring is silver with a 90 wrap. The kit also came with a bag of washers and nuts. When out testing, it seems to work the opposite of whats intended. My rpm's strike 10,900 and fall off to 10,200. What might I try to correct this. I was testing on hard pack snow only. ( Any Thoughts?)

You need more inner weight & less in the tip. I picked up a used hauck kit & the calibration was not even close when i bolted it in.

thanks Turk, when you say inner, do you mean the center of the weight. There are three holes to work with. How much would you add. Maybe one washer?

I would add 3-4 grams 1st hole; 2 grams second hole & maybe run the tip close to empty.

Thanks Turk, took your advice and started with three grams in the heel. "Wich by the way" was empty. This explains why my rpm's were so high on the get go! Anyway; the three grams dropped my rpm's down to 10,000 on start up and wouln't climb any higher. I then took the tip weight out, wich was five grams. Now the rpm's start out at about 10,400 and climb to 10,700. Conditions today were not ideal on the lake. Alot of high winds and drifts,so my rpm,s may be higher in better conditions. What? would you say would be the sweet spot on the big end.

add 2-3 grams to heel & you should be allmost bang on.your very close to being dead nutz on.I enjoy helping a guy that has a clue what is going on.

Thanks again Turk, I take it you feel my rpm's are still a bit high. I thought they may have been as well. I'm going to have to leave it as it is for now utnil conditions shape up a bit. Then I'll have another go at it.

what hauck weights are you using? vx or vp?

OK Turk, thought I'd share with you my clutching results. I spent 6 hrs. on the lake trying different springs, weights,and a couple different helixes. I was only having a little fun seeing what I could make work with parts I had laying aroud in my garage. I fiddled around so much I think I wore out the holes in my Hauck VX flyweights. Anyway, I used the entire kit Hauck sent me. I ended up using 6 1/2 grams in the heel 6 grams center, and tip empty. My Apex seems to like 10,500 the best; and coming out of the hole @ 10,200. I thank you once more Turk, for pointing me in the right direction.
