Last year I replaced the stock windshield on my 2006 Attak with the following to help block the wind better from my frozen hands. (I have updated to the newer style handlebar from Yamaha but only found marginal improvement.)

Cobra High Windshield
Dennis Kirk Part #: 232887
Manufacturer Part #: 10564010
Color: Black
Color: Clear
Height: 23 in.
Type: Flared

I am wondering if handguards (such as those made by Powermadd) would be the way to go to better block the wind? I have heard some say that they will hit the windshield on sharp turns and I do not want to deal with that. Does anybody have experience with the above windshield and the installation of handguards? Does one brand/model fit better than another?

Check with sled solutions a ty advertiser ~ they sell soft hand guards called skinz I believe. They will probably know.

i read these skinz guards tend to flip or something at high sppeds and dont work. thinking of going w/ powermadd as ive tried the regular yam. guards and they dont block enough of the wind. imo.

you are right about what you heard about the Skinz guards,I had a set and was not very happy with them. They didn't do much, besides being a hassle.

I have the PowerMadd hand guards and the Cobra mid height windshield. This combo has worked great for me at 5'6" but taller guys may need the tall windshield?

The hand guards do touch the windshield at full lock but do not limit the full turning range.

I posted the flipping info on the Skinz. They are ok at normal trail speeds. Guessing now {since It was last season} at roughly 80mph and up is when they flip. Gets scary crossing lakes wfo.

Thanks Dave!

As you can see I have the optional PowerMadd mirrors attached.

I have had the PowerMadd handguards which were as usless as t*ts on a bore pig. I now run the trail Skins and though not as good as gauntlets they do work better. Mine do not flip up at even over 100 mph. Attak with stock windshield.

So did you do anything beyound taking them out of the box and wrapping them around your bars? I have talked with Paul from Sled Solutions, he sold them to me. He agree's it is a common problem. He gave me some ideas to try.

My PowerMadd hand guards work well down to about zero degrees F. For below zero riding I put on the PowerMadd gauntlets which slip right over the handguards.

Just put them on. The only thing when putting them on is that I think that they are designed for unhooked bars and the hole for the end of the bar is in the wrong spot.

You can get extensions for the powermadd handguards the do make a bit of difference although they are very easy to break on a rollover i went with the cycra stealth and they worked good for me they have a rubber edge on them and are very flexible however there was no room for them on the attak after i got my gauges so i put them on the nytro.

I installed a ROX 2" riser and installed mounts between grip and controls, then I mounted handguards as far out as possible to clear windshield and works #1...
