I am looking for someone in the Madison, WI area that has some experience with this engine. I am wanting to break down the carbs and clean them but do not want to screw something up having never done it. Anyone in this area that wants to help out? I am sure we can work out a deal for your favorite beverage! :drink: :drink:

If you cannot find anyone and you need to take it in, I'd recommend C-R Yamaha down by Belleville or Johnson Sales up past De Forest.

Its soo easy if I was up there I would stop by for sure. For inspiration though I have never even seen a carb and this site helped me get the courage to pull them off (found detailed instructions) and then what to take apart to clean them. I am by no means saying I could rebuild a carb but we shouldn't have to on these newer sleds for a long time. I do know how to pull the jets and blow them out which is all you need to do. Next up I will learn to sync the carbs once i get a manometer.

IFLYEM........ Make sure who ever does it knows what they are doing. Your sled has updated mountain float bowls with jet extensions. So maybe just take it to a well known dealer....Like Port Yamaha. Eric

ok I can take it in. In the interim is there a fuel additive that may flush the jets? I ask because I wont have a chance to take it in before heading to the UP for the weekend

Yes, there is a product called Seafoam that I have used for 15 years. Try Farm and Fleet or your local NAPA store. Follow the directions on the can. I have used more than the reccomended 1 ounce per gallon on many occasions though. Good stuff. It's used regularly in ALL my vehicles, as welll as small engines. Good luck and I hope this helped you.

Dave
