Has anyone put a 16 wide on an 03 rx1, with MPI drop brackets? Even when bowing the tunnel at the bottom of the brackets, (suspension mounting points) it dosen't seem to give enough for the track to clear at the top. :o| Do I need other brackets (thinner ones) or does anyone have an idea?

Thanks, Aaron

Probably not what you want to hear but .....a Cat skid, even using the stock drop brackets fixes your problem.
I replaced the Cat upper wheels with the upper wheels from the back of the Yamaha skid (they fit) and they're about 1.5" dia. larger. This did two things.... gets the track off the TSL's and gives the track lots of clearance in the drop bracket area. I haven't done the 16" track yet, but it looks like it will clear everything.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if changing the skid is going to help. There is plenty of room for the 16 wide in the tunnel (clears everything in the front) the rear is the problem, and that might only be due to the thicker MPI brackets. I heard of some people using the MPI brackets with the 16 but I don't see how. Any other ideas?

Thanks, Aaron

Cat skid, with the larger Yamaha upper wheels using and the stock Yamaha drop brackets works because the track goes OVER the drop brackets inside the tunnel.....no interference at the back.

Thanks. Didn't want to use the stock brackets again (toooo heavy). I used the MPI brackets as a template and built thinner ones out of 3/16 alum. sheet. Track clears everything now. The next question is how do I seat that tapered collar on the bearing behind the secondary clutch, without damaging the new bearing?

Thanks, Aaron

Take that tapered collar and THROW IT OUT. Buy an 04 collar - they have a nut to hold them in (purchased separately). They were updated in 04 because some of the 03's slipped out a bit and let the jackshaft shake around, ultimately causing several jackshafts to break off.

Are you sure that 3/16 is thick enough? You wouldn't want it to break off....

What 04 parts do I need? (bearing and collar or just collar) The 3/16 should be enough, a friend of mine used a set he made from two thin sheets of diamond plate glued together. Mine are a solid 3/16.

Thanks, Aaron
