1st of all I am new to this site so hi all you blue people ! I have rode green for years , my wife has finally convinced me to go blue. She has had 03 rx1,05 vector, 04viper s so I have a leg on all at one time or another .My past rides were a T-cat then a zr900- I like a motor !! That's were I am at-RTX or ATTACK-----rtx is lighter and has the shocks vs attack better ride . Is the extra weight worth it . I am 40 years old and ride mostly groomed trail in western ny or old forge area, I need some feed back on both sleds because I have not rode either one but hear good things about both .TKS

Well i owne both sleds, but now only have two shorties, one is the rtx other is apex er and i started the year off on the attak with fox floats on it. Now you want to know why i dont have my attak right, well i drive very agressive thru the twisties oh heck all the time everywhere lol at first i loved the attak and thought i could get the ski lift and front end push adjusted out, well i could not,so matt and i swaped skid frames and tracks, now matt has the 136 and i have the shorty out of his rtx,and two weeks ago i went back up north and put 350 miles on the now apex er and other than it needing simmons and floats i absolutely love it,and it is now much quicker and faster than what my attak ever was,and the attak was not slow it ran 114 gps top speed and the shorty will run 110 gps in crapy snow on our rr beds and the 114 speed on the attak came on perfect conditions on hard ice/snow and my new shorty will blow the doors off my boys rtx and that used to blow the doors off my attak and his rtx has run 118 gps on same day and ice my attak ran 114 so i feel it will walk his rtx on top once we get some good ice again,as it was two weeks ago when we ran down the lake the ice was junk and his rtx could only muster 105 gps and my er 109 gps. So all i need now is to find someone where i can find fox floats used so once more i will have a set under my butt,as i sold the set i had on my attak,ok i love my er that will be an rtx/simmons sled next winter, and dont miss my attak, did i mention i like the rtx lol, they both are sweet rides, but i have to give a very big nod to the rtx for my driving styles.. good luck and welcome aboard. pete ;)! ;)! ;)!

RTX hands down for groomed trail, but I would find an 06 with the mono if it was me or get the 07 Apex GT. An Attack is a long track sled, so if you are not a totally groomed trail rider, and do alot of off trail or even 50/50 then get the Attack, but if all you ride is a groomed trail, then get the 06 RTX or an 06/07 Apex GT. The 07 RTX has the nitor rear skid and will not be as good as a ride as the mono rear skid. Apex GT would be my choice.

BIGZEE -

If you're interested, I know a dealer that has a couple 06 RTXs. PM me if you want the details. I have an 06 RTX and LOVE IT. I'm coming off a 1220 Thundercat, so I can appreciate your need for a motor. You will NOT be disappointed.

mnmsnowbeast seems to have summed it up pretty darn good. I had an Attak and now an 06 RTX. The only thing I can tell you is that IMHO the RTX is better looking and seems lighter. But seeing I haven't ridden the RTX it's mearly speculation on my part. Except for my comment on the looks of the RTX 8)

BIGZEE, If you want a skid that will pound it out and still ride good the 07' RTX is an animal. I was impressed as hell with the 2 that I rode. But I also have a 06' Attak with a fatboy rear mono spring and it rides fricken awesome. I do not totally agree with the statement above that the 06 RTX will ride better than the 07'. That depends on your riding style. If you are a agressive rider the CK skid in the 07 RTX is Yamaha's bad boy.Period. (personally I don't like all the yellow on the 07 but oh well)

all depends on your riding style...

mnmsnowbeast and I swapped our skids and I now have his 136 in my RTX but now I'm having thoughts of going even bigger to a 144"!

Different strokes for different folks!

I have an RTX and my buddy has an Attak.. we both agree the RTX is more fun to ride and at least to me feels significantly lighter. After swapping back and forth, my friend wishes he had the RTX.. but it all boils down to personal choice.

BigZee, I went through the same decision making process last year. I was really worried that the extra length of the Attak would be too much and wouldn't handle well in the twisty parts. After talking with several other members, I got an Attak and love it. I've ridden the Apex ER and the GT, but not the RTX. In my opinion, the extra length on the Attak provides better stability and I prefer the Attak over the Apex ER and the GT. Hope that helps.

after talking to other ty'ers who rode the 07's...
and based on mostly groomed trail riding (i'm 44)
I decided on the attack gt...
what was told to me..the floats are lighter but the gyt's carve/feel the trail better ...plus they're adjustablility and the rear ohlin cant be ignored..
if one is more of a ditch banger...then the pro-active offers a more bottoming resistance..?
the rest is gearing, graphics and windscreen

all depends on your riding style...

Did the 136 attack skid bolt right up to the rtx

I think that the 121" isn't enough track for the Apex engine. I ride with a '08 Apex GT and a '11 Apex XTX (both with Ripsaw tracks) and the '11 rides so much better. Yes, the suspension technology is different, but the increase in traction helps to provide a better handling snowmobile.
