Currently own 2006 RTX and looking to replace.
I ride pretty hard and love the top end of the apex. Not sure nytro top end will be enough. Nytro has a lighter chassis which i am very much in favor of.
I am looking at a nytro rtx or xtx vs. apex rtx or gt. I ve ridden the nytro a few times (08's). How stiff is the rtx, Is the xtx the ticket? Or go with an 08' leftover apex and wait for a newer model someday?
Very Confused!!!

Do you like the way the Nytro handles/feels?
I'd go with a '08 Apex GT 40th anniversary, which has the Ohlins all the way around and you get a $1,600 cash rebate with Yamaha's current offers
I've logged 2,400 miles so far this season and haven't a complaint

I think you would miss the Apex motor if you went with a Nytro.

- 2010 FXNytro MTX 162 SE with a 270 hp MCX Turbo and assorted goodies!
I moved from the RX-1 down (Only a relative Term) to a FXNytro MTX. Now I moved out west and was going to buy a mounted sled anyways, but........
My first thought was that I would miss the 4 cylinder engine. The fact of the matter for me is that the 3 cylinder FXNytro power plant is a blast to ride as well. AND IT WAS LIGHTER,being in the mountains that is what I wanted. I have LOVED the FXNytro, and only look back when I take the RX-1 out for it's annual ride........... and I am always happy I made the switch.
Others that have the Apex chassis may miss that chassis design more then my RX-1, but if you like the FXNytro chassis, you will love the engine!!!

This is the reason i kept this one as long as i have.
The 08' nytro was alright, the xtx seemed better but still a little tippy. I'm a little nervous to go to the long track. I don't want to sacrifice manueverability. It may be an even trade with the weight difference. So it comes down to the power.
The nytro low end is every bit as good as the apex and imo feels faster. I did race my buddies nytro RTX andwas close till 70-80mph and then the apex handily beats it.
The 08' GT is a good choice but the rear is going to be too soft as i found with the RTX. The hygear rear upgrade really helped my rtx.
I will try to get some #'s tomorrow, maybe this will ease the process...

I disagree, I coming off an Attak and the XTX is within 5mph of it on top end......
the power on the Nytro is much more addictive than the Apex..

I don't find my 09 RTX SE tippy at all, especially when you start to dial in the suspension.

Just get an XTX and throw a Powderlites turbo on it. Pump gas will get you 124 mph. Thats the route I am going.
