Hey all, Kinger and I have been collaborating on idea to make a universal mount for the ZX-2 suspension that would have predrilled holes for multiple different setbacks. I have most of the engineering for this figured out but the only machine I have readily available for measurement is an 07 APEX RTX ER. I just got done doing a few hours of research comparing different part numbers for different apex models and years. In particular I am interested in an inside tunnel bracket. When looking at the online Yamaha parts finder the item # varies between 27-30 depending on the year and model, but With a few exceptions, all part numbers are identical.
8FU-21943-00-00 BRACKET, MAIN TRACK 1 (LH)
8FU-21953-00-00 BRACKET, MAIN TRACK 2 (RH)
These part numbers are used on all variations of APEX and ATTAK snowmobile 2006-2009 with the exception of the mountain versions. They use (2) of
8FS-21943-00-00 BRACKET, MAIN TRACK 1
There does not appear to be a right or left hand version of these.
The one odd exception I found was on the 2007 APEX RTX. It uses the following part numbers:
8GT-21943-00-00 BRACKET, MAIN TRACK 1 (LH)
8GT-21953-00-00 BRACKET, MAIN TRACK 2 (RH)
Now I believe this is either a typo or these part numbers have been superseded. As far as I know, the RTX and the RTX ER are identical except for the reverse.
What I would like is for pictures of the inside of the tunnel showing this bracket as well as the rest of the inside tunnel if available. I have attached a picture of the bracket I am talking about. My goal is to determine the difference (if any) between the different variations of APEX machines. Ideally I'd like to design a mount bracket that could be used on any APEX. Also, if possible or already done, could I get dimensions from the centerline of the drive axle to the centerline of the forward mount bolt for the suspension? I believe the first hole is in the exact same location regardless of the suspension type (Monoshock, CK, Pro Action). I am trying to confirm this.
Also, if anyone has pictures of the above mentioned brackets for the mountain version machines, I'd love to see what those look like as well. I think there are several areas that can be "improved" upon with the ZX-2 mounting kits. I hope to share my results with all TY'ers when I am done. Thanks for any and all help.
Moderators, is it possible to have this posted in the mountain and aftermarket suspension sections as well? The more visibility this gets the better my chances of finding the info I need. Thanks.

The partno 8FS-21943-00-00 BRACKET, MAIN TRACK 1 fits both side of the tunnel, it fits the holes in the tunnel on both sides.
The other pair of partno's are not identical, thus the need for one part for each side of the tunnel.
Does it make any sence to you?

Yes, it makes sense. I am trying to determine the exact differences between the mountain sleds and standard Apex. I am wondering if a set of mountain brackets would work on a standard Apex, or if I should just cut off the raised portion of the standard brackets to have my new reinforcement mount plate sit flush over everything. I would still utilize all stock rivet holes and rivets.

you do not want to use the mountain brackets as they are way bigger and mega heavy. I just threw mine in the bin as they drag in deep pow. Total rubbish!!
