I've had it with my &^*% POS Lazer Blizzard modular helmet. I never got along with the breath mask because it pinches off my nostrils if I adjust it tightly enough to keep it from leaking straight up onto my glasses. It also covers the part of my nose where my glasses need to rest. I've been using the helmet with an electric shield instead, and get tired of repairing and replacing the power cords when the wires break from too much flexing. This weekend, a molded-in boss inside the chin bar, that the pivot mechanism mounted to, broke off. Now the chin bar won't stay in the raised position. The overall quality seems really cheap.

I'd like to stick with a modular style helmet and have read good reports here and elsewhere on the BRP Modular 2. Does anyone here use this helmet with glasses? It would really be nice to not have a cord connecting my helmet to the machine. Contact lenses weren't an option a few years ago due to astigmatism, though my optometrist says there are new lenses out now that should work. That's why I like the idea of having the sun shield in the BRP modular. Without it, I would need sunglasses with contacts on a bright day and that wouldn't be any better than wearing my glasses with transitions lenses.

I have the same problem that you are having. I starting wearing glasses in the spring and having a hell of a time this year. I have a orginal brp modular helmet and tried it this season it works ok but i fine my glasses still fog a little when you slow down. But they do work ok. Hope this helps. The electric sheild is 200 bucks in canada.

Thanks, YAMAHAMMER101. I ordered the Modular 2 from a dealer selling on eBay for $249 US. I'll try it with glasses first, then maybe try contacts if there's a fogging problem. I'm due to see the eye doctor anyway. If that doesn't work, I'll add an electric shield as a last resort. MSRP for the shield is $170 here in the states, yikes!

One thing I learned the hard way with glasses is that nothing seems to keep them from fogging if they have an anti-glare coating on the lenses. Otherwise, SuperSeer VariClear works well for me.

This may sound really strange but putting shaving cream on the lens of your glasses and letting sit of a minute. then clean it off and works quite well. Let me know how the bvs 2 works i might upgrade to that helmet.

I have a BV2S modular helmet from Skidoo and much easier to adjust the mask and more confortable..than the modular1 or 2

If my can of VariClear ever runs out, I'll try shaving cream. It looks like the exact same stuff!

I think glasses will be easy for the BVS2 because I find the easiest way to put the helmet on is from the back instead pulling it straight down on my head. You need to do this with the mask off and the modular part all the way up. :-) But since I have contacts I can't say for sure.

First impression

The Modular 2 arrived today so I gave it the mandatory trial run. It was a short 30 minute ride at about 20 degrees F and it seems to work well. The breath evac mask seals well, even though I have a beard. I didn't put any anti-fog on my glasses and they didn't fog up. It seems warm too, even without the additional insulated face mask that came with it. The only negative so far is they don't include any extra absorbent pads for the breath mask, the cheap bastards. Looks like I'll be making my own after checking out the price:

It would be pretty easy to make your own out of some felt.

I can't help thinking that that $199 price is a mistake. A 5 pack of those pads for the BV2S helmet is $9.99.

I decided to skip the sled mods and have LASIK, a year ago. It's at least worth checking into.

I've read about people making the pads from those synthetic chamois they sell for drying cars. I have one called an "Absorber" and it looks like that material would work. I'll pick up a new one this weekend.

I'm too chicken to have my eyes modified! I know it is popular and the techniques are probably perfected by now, but I'm still too nervous to have it done.

That is funny as heck!!! I noticed that too. They are about $10 dollars.
