Anybody know how to set up a new 800R with X package suspension? My buddy weighs about 200 lbs and cannot get his new sled to ride worth a crap. He actually quit riding after 90 miles because he was too sore...lol
Anyway, this is a serious question. I am not trying to dirt his new sled...even though he is not happy with it.

stountner,
Please give us a little bit more to go on.
IS it too soft or too stiff? Is it the front or the rear suspension he is unhappy with? What type of terrain do you guys ride. Is there something he does like about the ride? It's hard to give tuning advice with the amount of info we have been given.
Oh and everyone should be a little sore after their first 90 miles of the year!! Heck most of us will be using muscles we haven't used in a while!

Sounds like he shouldve got the R without the X.

The X package suspension is very stiff. He will probably need to revalve the shocks.

I agree with the other guys without knowing what the sled is doing that he doesn't like it's difficult to say what needs to be changed. But the owners manual for the past doos have had starting points based on rider weight, I would make sure everything is set to that to start and go from there.

Sorry I haven't replied. Was up in Quebec for the last 5 days sledding. Anyway, Bottoming out isn't a problem...We can't exactly pinpoint what it is. It just feels stiff. We talked to another guy up there with an 800R and he said his Mach Z rode better. He was still trying to dial in as well.
I think that it is a little stiff and he will be able to get it better. Ultimately, the seat is way too firm and has too little padding. When you sit in the "#*$&@ groove", you can actually feel the hard plastic base of the seat now that it is broken in.
By the way, now that his 800R is broken in (800 miles), that thing rips. It is much faster than it was with 100 miles on it.

I think the ski doos have a limiter that wont let them run out fully untill like 700 miles dont they?
Anyhoo the X package is probably way too stiff for him. It would be for me and I ride fairly aggressive. A revalve is probably in order to soften them up but not lose the no-bottoming out feature.
Does he have everything set to full soft?
