I purchased a fourth wheel and asked dealer to check part # with latest catalogue, which he said they were the same. In the package I got the wheel and 3 spacers, 1 long and 2 short of equal length. My problem is I can not get the 2nd washer on the inside of the rail. It fits between the rail and the adjuster. Questions: Can I leave it out ?? Do I need to remove the skid from the sled in order to get the washer in place ??? The sled in question is an 05 rx1er. Thanks ahead of time. :?

You got the old kit like I did. Take one of the small spacers from the new kit and cut it down to match the small spacer you took out of the 05. Use those two spacers.

You definitely cannot leave the washer out, because the center wheels will be an unequal length from the slide rails and not line up properly with the track.

Try Port-Parts www.portyamaha.com He sales these kits.

BigDog, thanks for the reply again. I looked at the port yamaha site for the wheel kit. It is listed for 98 - 04 sleds. I have the same part number they have listed SMA-WHEEL-4K-IT. Is this the wrong kit ??

BigDog, I did a search and found your discussion with port yamaha. "Or you could order the new 05 wheel kit that just became available from Yamaha. Part number is SMA-WHEEL-KT-05." I have the old 04 kit. Think I will try to have the dealer get the correct kit. Thanks for the help.

If you want to use the old version kit, you need to shorten the SPACER (the one towards the OUTSIDE) such that the length of both spacers + the thickness of the wheel bearing = the length of the original spacer. The distance between the two center wheels should be the same for all years since its determined by the TRACK, the distance from the wheel to the rail may be different due to different rail design.

You *MUST* keep the washer between the adjuster and the rail. It is needed to distribute the force of the shaft across a somewhat larger area than what you would get with just the adjuster.

The actual part number different is that the 05 has a 90387-20015-00 and the older one has a 90387-2012E-00.

Note that the 05 has a 90387-20015-00 between the existing center wheel and the adjuster on the left side, so you can measure against it.

Talked to the dealer and he has no problem with ordering the correct kit and exchanging it for the old one. Thank you for the replies and help.

If that is what you want but really what LB said is no big deal, a little work on belt sander, or grinder and you would be done in no time.

By the way where are you at in Northern Illinois??

Just a couple blocks from WI to the north and 4 blocks to Lake M here. The town I have listed is the cabin where I keep the sleds.

The 4th wheel kit is a good idea on a high powered sled ESPECIALLY if you are studded.
The new wider hyfax should help also which I think all the 05 4 strokes got.

I have ridden ib the Presque Isle area. My riding partner and I like to go to the Baraga area and stay at the casino. Have fun day and night. :drink:
