Been a while since I last posted. I have a little problem and I know someone here can help. I have a 03 shorty with 192 studs and been running flawless. The group I run with has seen the RX1 run and its allways from behind me. Now comes my delema Buddy bought a sled by and hes getting me out of the hole. Not by much but enough. That where I need some Ideas. Any help out there.

If your sled is stock put a stage 3 clutch kit on from the speed shop. I put one on and it made a huge difference. My buddy and I both have RX1's and where pretty even, now I'm getting him by 8 - 12 sled lengths. Also I ordered the K & N filter kit from ECP that is also supposed a huge difference. The stage 3 kit includes a new top gear which gears it down. NOTHING is getting us out of the hole. I'm talking REV's , firecats, ZR 900's or anything Polaris has.

I'm not sure what the gearing change will do to your topend so I wouldn't be too quick on the stage 3 kit. Get ahold of Matt at the www.thespeedshop1.com and he'll set you up with clutching. Do get the K&N's from Freddie at ECP, you'll be glad you did. You might even want to try the filters first. Last year I went the Heavy hitter route and was very pleased. This year on my Warrior I went with the K&N kit first and can can honestly say I'm not sure what I'm gonna do about clutching. The K&N's made a bigger improvement than the clutching did.

Well I didn't get on a lake yet but as far as my buddies RX1 running me down in a 1/2 mile feild it wasn't happening, my son has the same he is still seeeing 120 in the field that we run and like I said it is 1/2 mile long. The stage 3 kit drops the top sprocket by 1 tooth. According to Matt at the Speed Shop we might lose about 3 mile per hour. Anyway most of the time we don't race any longer than that and 120 is fast enough for me....

Also my K & N filter kit is on the way, ordered it about 2 weeks ago.
Please report the differences in performance once you have the filters installed.

Are you getting enough weight on the track? I lost to a VIPER  Straps too tight, corners excellent -drag racing...not so good.

Thanks guys as allways this is the place to be for info. Sounds to me I can achive what I'm after without spending alot of coin. Think I'll try the KNs. xpolarisguy are you talking about the two front limiter staps because I notice a lot of track spin coming out of the hole. Do I loosen the strap or tighten it?

Xpolarisguy how could a viper beat you it can't be stock and if it is there has to be something wrong with yer sled my best bud has an 02 viper and he can't touch me :D

Truth of the matter is: No matter what sled I buy, I never can beat him :( Must be a curse  He's dusted my XLT w/ a modified Phazer II before.

I let my straps out to approx 1" of thread, adjusted my rods and I'm still not hooking up. I tried to take pre-load off of the center shock, but read my latest post (suspension). I also raised my FRA up one, to the middle setting. Both front shocks are at their stock settings.

Yesterday it was about 23 degrees out and it still does not seem to have the hook-up or the power it did when it was new. It ran extremely flat all the way through. Could only hit about 98MPH or so, not much more beyond. I've ridden in both warmer and colder (-10) and it's ran better. I'm confused. I haven't touched the carbs or the clutch yet and I'm pretty sure IT'S NOT the duck-bill visor on my new MX helmet either

Maybe I should start a new post? " Stock Viper spanks RX-1  " - How embarassing

Just ordered two of ECP kits one for me and one for buddies sled. This sould be intresting we'll do one sled and compare notes. Thanks freddie I think its all I need. Xpolaris guy this viper probley not stock my buddy has one and gets me everytime but I know he's been working on it. Both our 03 shortys run side by side to 122 on the speedo then he slowly moves in front were hitting 10500 rpm. Hes been through 5 sets of plugs and I.m on my second set. You have to let the sled warm up without gasing it I learned this he hasnt.

It IS stock  He's never messed with his tripples (Vmax SX700, Viper) setup. I don't think blue headlight covers are the ticket either, except for maybe the fangs  I know he doesn't have extra money for hop-ups either. Come to think of it, we did stop an awfull lot that day. I did notice the longer you ride it the better it gets.

I worked on my setup over the weekend and changed plugs yesterday. Lastnight Ultimatewarrior and I went riding with two Ski-dud 600's (old style) and a ZR 600. One of the 600 HO doo-doo's had studs, but we both walked him on the loose stuff. Ultimate was getting me by about a sled and 1/2 but eventually (mile or so), I pulled away from Ultimate slowly at 105, both of us had it to the bar, so it must be getting better

I have it setup for minimal weight xfer at the moment, so that's probably where I'm losing. However, it floats across the studder's and corners very well. I'll have to monkey some more with it. Really looking into some stealth rods for quick adjusting. Could definitely use some clutching too.

Snowdawg, Let me know how the ECP's work-out
