Anyone know of any dealers with any of the updated bars left? Can't find any locally so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd try Pat's Yamaha in Greenland, MI. He said he had a bunch of sets. Also try Port Yamaha, they are a sponsor on this site. I bet they can come up with a set.

What is the difference with the updated bars. Thanks
The new bars are heated all the way to the end of the J hooks and get a lot hotter then the '06 Bars.

Viper you should be able to go into your hometown dealer and ask em to order the bars. They have been on backorder FOREVER from Yamaha, but should be available to order now. Just make sure they know about the special price for them. I JUST got mine at the start of December and the dealer sorted it all out for me. PN# 8FP-26100-00-00 and I payed $29.95cdn (INSTALLED) but the price is probably differnet for you in States.

Bars

The bars are no longer available to order. Yamaha cut all orders off on 3/31/07 so any dealer that says they can order them are wrong. Talked to Yamaha customer service and got the story directly from them after going to my local dealer.

Price on new bars now are $125 each handwarmer, $10 each grip and I think $50 for bars. Total $320 PLUS install. Crazy difference for yamaha's mistake in the first place right?

I still have the original bars on my 06. I rewired them so they are in parallel and not in series. Now they get a lot hotter and there is no need to replace them.

Can you tell me how big a job to change the wiring, give a step by step instructions if possible

There is a wiring harness under the hood by the spark plugs which has a rubber cover protector around it. Open that up and find the two conectors that go to the handwarmers. You will find a yellow/red wire, black wire and 2 black/red wires on the sled side of the harness. The 4 handwarmer wires are all black.
The yellow/red wire is the power wire and the plain black is the ground wire. The black/red wires are not used. You need to rewire the handwarmers so that the yellow/red supplies power to each handwarmer. The other wire from each handwarmer is connected to the plain black ground wire. I soldered the connections as I don't like the quick connects but they would likely work.
The whole job takes about 1/2 an hour and is not really very hard. Now the handwarmers are in parallel so they get more amperage and therfor get a lot hotter. You rarely have to turn them above 50% power or they will burn your hands off!
Others have advised not to run them at 100% as they could get so hot that something gets damaged, we have tested ours at full power and have not had any problems. Hope this helps.

THanks for the reply. I will print off the directions and tackle it this spring.

I am a little dense when it comes to wiring.
So you take one of the black wires from each handwarmer and solder them both to the yellow/red wire? Do you just bare a spot and solder the wires that way?

And the 2 black/red wires are not touched?

Is this correct.

This rewire only works on an 06 model, and requires you to use the 06 bars. If your sled is 07 or newer it came wired in this manner from the factory and all you need to do is get some 06 bars and install them just like the 07 bars were installed.
The 07 bars have a smaller grip diameter and the heating element and grip bend to make the bar hooks, the 06 bars have larger outer diameter grips with a non heated hook screwed on to the end. They are very easy to tell apart if you compare them.

I did this on a 2006 Nytro. I pulled the yellow/red wire out of the connector and then soldered a wire to it. Then put it back into the connector.
The two black/red wires on the sled side of the harness are not used for anything once you rewire it to put the handwarmers in parallel.
It is really pretty easy to do and understand once yo get in there and have a look at the wiring. Goodluck.
