i'm hoping that i can get some good honest opinons from any of you who have come off an SRX to a Nytro. how do you like the handling, power and the ride? i tried an 05 RX-1, 06 Apex RTX and just recently an 08 Apex LTX GT. i love the power but i hate the engine breaking and how heavy/tippy it feels on the trails. they do ride great in the rough but they also feel heavy. I was thinking either a Nytro or a new Vector with the FI engline to avoid the engine breaking. any opinon would be greatly appreciated.

I went from a 02 srx to a 09 nytro xtx.I Would say power wise they are pretty even till about 80 than the srx would pull away. The BIGGEST thing I found is the seating position of the Nytro. Its like trying to compare apples to oranges. I have put a 130 miles on it(srx) so far this year and could not bring myself to ride it again this year after getting the XTX. I have put 2500 TROUBLE free miles on the xtx so far this year.I am going for 3,000 miles before I am done for the year. Still has the factory belt and the hyfaxs look really good still to. If you can get a deal on a Nytro pull the trigger. You will be happy you did.

thanks guys. a couple of questions. did the EBRS (engine breaking reduction system) help or even make a difference in the corners?
sounds like the XTX handles decent on the trails, how is it in the tight turns? does it tend to push you or do the tipped rails work well? really thinking of a short track since i don't do much off trail riding but the thought of bridging the moguls does appeal to me. getting older and my back ain't what it use to be.

Yes, it is significantly better.
What Nytro are you thinking of getting? Know that if you get an RTX, then it will be rough ride. Also, between the SRX and the Nytro, the cornering is completely different. I spent a lot of time riding SRX's, and they completely rail a corner but suffer in the big bumps. The Nytro is the opposite, though you can get through a corner good with a lot of commitment.

Go with the xtx you wont regret it. It has some push in the corners. I noticed it turns ALOT better in a corner that is beat up as opposed to a smooth one.

i'm looking at a short track Nytro FX. how is the power from corner to corner? not big on wide open runs on lakes so the top end is not all that important to me. i'm also considering a Vector GT but would have to purcahse the 2010 if i wanted the EBRS.
thanks

Kind of a loaded question for us, it really depends upon what you want to do. (Nytro XTX) Engine breaking system on the nytro is really nice. yes it does push in the corners but it depends upon the trail conditions. I rode this last weekend on a well groomed trail and it was like having a short track. As soon as the trail gets some snow on it, it will feel more like a 136. With tip up rail hard to get all 144 to ground unless you are in loose snow. Power and deliver is awesome but if you want to rail trails then you need to change the carbides either 6 inch or doolys will work. If you go dual carbides choose slims to cut down on drag.

The corner-to-corner acceleration of the Nytro is phenomenal. Compared to a 2-stroke, there’s a violence to the acceleration that makes me tingle all over. I can’t say that I even notice the engine braking effect. It’s just part of the sled’s trail manner that doesn’t register with me.

If your a larger guy like myself (265) go with the RTX as the standard model may be too soft, just my opinion. I have the 08 rtx and love it.

I just picked up an XTX and got to put 360 miles on it. Coming from a Viper S with revalved ohlins and a 98 SRX. I absaulutly loved the Nytro. Im a little slower in the tight corners, but faster in the wide swooping corners.
Corner to Corner power is non-stop! Where ever you want it, its there(up to 80ish, then its not quite as strong pulling)
Engine braking didnt bother me, it allowed me to not use the brake as much. Very easy to get used to.
Not trying to toot my horn here, but I ride extremly trail agressive, and am very glad I bought the Nytro. Cant wait to get more miles in and dial the suspension in a touch more

Ya know, arteex, that is actually a good description "violence". I love this sled but know there are better handling ones out there. That said, I still wouldn't get rid of this monster. I actually enjoy "driving" this sled, not so much "riding" it. For the most part I only "ride" this sled when I have the kiddos on board. Everyone that asks me out on the trails about it always gets my standard "not for a lazy rider" diatribe. I ride with nothing but die hard Cat enthusiasts and the one that rides the F1000 just told me the other day that he really wants to ride my XTX (I always offer) but he won't. He finally told me why last weekend; he's afraid he will like it! Time after time we line up and I leave him everytime til about 80, but by that time I just let off the throttle and let him go, point was already made.
Violence, yep you bet ya. This sled keeps me emotionally stable on the trails by providing just the right amount of power, excitement, fear, safety, and reliability. Well, so far anyway.
Sorry for the hijack dude.

thanks everyone. your opinons are much appreciated.
i'm really leaning towards the short track FX Nytro. i just needed to hear from some of you that it really does handle decent and the power is all they say it is. i'm sure if i have any problems with the handling that i could always go to a diiferent ski or dually carbides to help correct it. it did take me a full season with my SRX to get it dailed in to what i liked so i already know this wouldn't be any diiferent.

I was a long standing Cat guy with numerous Thundercats (last one was a 1220). I just came off an 06 Apex RTX. My new Nytro RTX SE is flat out the best sled I've ever ridden. The power out of the hold is really incredible. My sled has 150 miles on it. On a short blast (maybe 10-12 seconds), my speedo was reading 104.
As far as handling, the stock skis are junk. Do yourself a favor and get a set of pilots (out the door with 8" carbides for $274.00). All I did was decrease the center shock pre-load and the sled just rails! You will be surprised how will it goes through the turn. I've also got 144 studs and weigh 230lbs.
You'll love the sled.

the power is unbelievable up to around 80 like others have stated. i have been nothing but pleased with the power for tight trails. the engine brake is great, dont use the brake nearly as much. as far as handling goes... i have C and A pro ski's and 144 studs and it didnt make the handling any better than stock. the trails were beat up pretty good this weekend and the snow was loose...the sled was a handfull to say the least. it seemed to dart the worst when letting off the throttle
