I rode for 10 days in McCall Idaho last week. I ride at 2K to 5k elevation and McCall is 6K to 8K. My sled ran like crap right when I got there. On the trail it was fine, but once we started playing in the deep stuff it would load up. At full bore it was ok, but once I let off it would blubber. Sometimes it got so bad I couldn't even get it to run. I had to stay on the throttle all the time. I called Trxster and he thought elevation might be the problem and I should drop my needles. I was wary because it ran fine on the trail so I put off dropping them for two days (big mistake). I thought it was the powder that was piling on my engine so I taped up openings. Then I suspected it was fuel pump getting hot so I tried relocating it. Finally I dropped the needles two notches, and the thing ran perfect. Improved gas mileage by 50% and never loaded up again. Even started great after rolling it out of a stuck. My lesson.....needle height makes a BIG difference. I'll have to see what is does back at 2K.

I had the same problem in McCall. I thought it was my Holtzman Atacc screwing up but it sure was loading up and a freakin nightmare. I dropped my needles and unhooked the Atacc and it worked well.
I think I dropped my mains down too if I remember correctly.

That's what I'm wondering too? heading out west to revelstoke next week, about 6 to 7,000 feet max. What position is your clip at Kachess?
Also If I'm gonna do the needles I may as well do the float bowls too. Do you guy's know what they are supposed to be at?

My jets are stock. Never messed with them or the float bowls, other than having the update installed. My kids needles have the clip up one notch from the bottom. I dropped my needles down in mcCall so the clip is down one from the top, needles two notches lower than my son's. We went riding today at from 2500 to 4500ft and both ran fine. His burbles a tad on acceleration, and mine was a little snappier, but both were ok. I don't know if I would mess with anything untill you see how it's running. I have never messed with anything when I went to Revelstoke and it ran fine. have a great trip.

that's the thing Kach...went to Radium in January (7-9,000 feet) and sled performed okay and performed even better once I had figured out that the carb heaters were on and I shut them off!. But it still seemed a bit rich???
I know nothing about 4 stroke engines in terms of jetting, and what I figure is they NEED fuel when you crack em open and since I have the ECP's I figure that maybe I need to richen up my pilots from stock? But I also think I'm a bit rich at WOT so maybe I need to lower my needles? Does anyone have a setup? Also did you change your float bowl height? If yes to what specs?
My current jetting with ECP's is 160 mains, stock pilots, stock needle, and stock float position air screws at 2 1/2 turns out
