My buddy just got a new vector gt. He was riding an 02 Viper. Any tips? He's a little over 6' and about 250lbs. Any help would be great. Snow will be here before we know it. THANKS

You can search for setup tips, but at minimum he'll want to suck up the limiter 1 hole from stock and then he can adjust the transfer rod to his liking. This will really help the handling of this sled. Shimming the skis or reversing the rubber ski mount is a good way to overcome darting. If he's going to use the stock skis, then Bergstrom is a good way to go for carbide runners but some are also using dual runners with good results. There aren't many mods for the engine. To put the most power to the ground I would recommend Ulmer's clutch kit. At any rate, he has a great sled with a fantastic ride. The handling takes some time to get used to and the engine is AMAZING with a powerband that can't be touched by any 600/700 2 stroke (as far as low and mid range performance is concerned). A very capable sled, tops out about the same as most 600 2 strokers.

Thanks. Your post sounds a lot like what I'm doing to my Phazer. The first couple of trips are going to be used for setup and break in.

And btw, at 250 lbs he can pretty max out his spring preload on the rear shock without having to worry about it being too stiff. I go about 180 lbs and at first had my rear shock preload set to minimum. I am now just 1 click away from max preload of the rear spring. I don't have much sag when I sit on it, but at the end of the day the tunnel tends to collect about 50 lbs of ice and you'll want the preload set high to compensate. I did not notice any negative effects in going from zero preload to near max. In fact, it rides just as good but bottoms far less often. I also started with my RA set to min, but found that a setting between 6 and 10 does wonders to control the rebound and bottoming. My sled bottoms no more often than a standard IQ or Edge Polaris, and even less than my old Cat with a standard edition 2002 ZR rear suspension.
