My Daughter Boy Friend got a new left over 2017 BTX viper. Picked it up last week from dealer. I told him to bring to my place and we would check if over.
I guess they never did a very good pre inspection before they gave him the machine.
-The plastic brake disk cover by under left foot was not even popped rivet on. all was holding it on was the one screw that also holds the foot well in place. 4 pop rivets were missing.
-The rubber tabs that goes under the rad cover to stop vibration of cover on rad.was not installed the were in the bag with book.
- Chain case oil was low.
- Drive chain adjusting bolt to loose it was over 2 turns from finger tight.
- But the big one was the motor oil was way over full. you could look in an see the oil was up high. It was almost to the top of the stick. I say I sucked out about 3/4 of a litter. Then warmed up machine tell fan cut in , shut if off and checked oil and it was fine.
The problem I got with all of this is if I never when threw this machine for him he would of had major problems.
I guess it pay to go over your machine once you get it.

Having a dealership that you can trust takes some of the worries out of this already unpredictable sport.
The same guys that did the preinspection are going to do the maintenance and warranty repairs.
Thank God my dealer tech has OCD. He needs therapy. But you should see his work.
Keep looking!!!!

Not all dealers are created equal. Sad but true.
Look for Yamaha Pro dealers and even better yet dealers that have mechanics that actually ride sleds and enjoy the sport.
