New 2017 Yamaha Sleds...

BTW, I was crooning around on DOOTALK & WOW are they bitchin' just like us. They want a new chassis & a high HP 4-stroke. I was amazed at how many were disappointed in E-tec lifespan & lack of HP in 1200 that has so much more to give. They're PISSED...

Ive seen so many of those etecs blow before 5000km id never trust one. I think the 900ace is my favourite motor from doo atm. The 4 stroke doos are 10x more popular than the vipers in my area. Almost nobody buys them.

Just a question, not to you specifically but to all in general. Why is a Yamaha chassi so important. They haven't had a good current designed chassi in what 30+ years? They didn't even move out of the pogo to a trailing arm till 97. By that time it was obsolete. And please don't tell me the Delta box or newer nytro was any better. We finally have a awesome chassi and now one wants it. Good grief?????? Can it be March 1st already so at least all the complaining will be about new topics. These give me a headache.
I agree. But also disagree that the last good chassis was 20 years ago when the 97 sx models came out. They like everyone else were stuck to trailing arms till cat patents ran out. Now I'm wondering how well the struts would work currently. Just need something to allow camber gain but I think they would work ok. Idk of MR. Sled can chime in as his vmax build is similar. Guess it's probably tippy. But yea chassis wise even the nytro wasn't as bad as the bitching about it. It had flaws and was a solid piece near end. And would be great sled if they put race front end on it. Now they haven't had a total out of park home run but some solid performers that created a lot of buzz and introduced 4strokes as more than a way to get your sled to the trail

Viper chassis is the best I have ever ridden. I can fly over bumps without a sore back!

Exactly! And Yamaha had nothing to do with it! Which was Super1c's point... Yamaha sucks at building their own chassis, so stick to the formula that works. Build the best motors we can buy and out them in blue AC's!

I think there's a supercharged ACE in the SEADOO's. That could be hot. 3 throttle bodies on 1200 would get 150 hp. Rumor is some supercharged 4-stroke Doo coming'...Just did taxes. Hope Yammi steps up, cuz i gots $15,000 waiting to go bye bye.

MR SLED has said Yamaha watches this site, I hope Arctic Cat is watching it as well, I have your recipe for success.
Yamaha
, winning Sno cross with a 4 Stoke/Nytro has not helped sales, winning Hill climb with a 4 stroke/Viper has not helped sales.
Arctic Cat, Tucker Hibert winning X Games how many times, winning Sno cross how many times on a reliable 2 Stroke still has you in third place/ not helped sales.
What you need to build is something better than Poo and Doo.
Make it weighs 350 lbs, so you can tell the world it's the lightest on the market.
Make sure the tunnel is made out of aluminum foil so when when you Pogo Stick it on a hard drift it folds up like an accordion, better than 1 and 2 in sales.
Re design your Engines so you make 170 HP, but make sure they can compete with a Clean Fire or E Tec so I can advertise my used sled on Kijji (in Canada) with 3000 Klms. and a fresh motor rebuild.
Quality, durability and reliability are not words 70% of the snow mobile world want to hear, so build what the snow mobile world wants.

But please continue to build the quality durability and reliability I buy your products for.

I really hope Yamaha doesn't employ turbocharging on their new flagship if they release one. They have the engine already- just tweak the existing Apex engine. It will run with anything 200 horse and less. Turbos are cheap bandaids for power. Lag can never be eliminated and will never feel like a proper N/A engine. If they want to resort to boost then do it properly- use a Supercharger.
You have never ridden a Hurricane turbo have you? NO lag, awesome throttle response. If you are basing your theory on factory turbos from Polaris and Cat I would hold judgement.

I would still prefer that Yamaha design and build their own sleds. By co-building a sled with Arctic Cat, essentially we will get closer to just 3 OEMs.

Let's hoping Yami plans on topping the new Doo

You know, I have to give our doo friends some credit. They without a doubt have the best accessories on the market. That starts with the BV2S helmet and then extends to their Linx system. Those snap on accessories are slick making a diverse and customization sled. Same with Poo in their acquisition of Klim. Klim is one of the best suits I've ever experienced! A/C has had good advertising in their cloths for years. It's hard to find a A/C guy not wearing an A/C jacket.

I really think Yamaha needs to step up their game in the accessory arena as well. They have some good looking jackets and I'm seeing more of them worn, but I'm not overly impressed with the design. Many lack vents and pockets which are two things I'm looking for in my suit. Yamaha bolt on accessories are kinda lame when comparing to Doo. Sure they have some bags and the turbo is awesome. But what about having a bolt on trunk. Modern machines have no on board storage. How about fuel tank. Take the Powderkeg as a template or go partner with them as they did with MPI and A/C... Everyone that has checked out my sled loves the powderkeg for its functionality and fit/finish.

Agreed! I have a Yamaha full suit and it's nothing but rebranded FXR stuff, don't get me wrong, it's good stuff but I think they could come up with their own ideas. As for sled accessories Yamaha is really lacking! Especially when I snowchecked my viper and didn't get anything I ordered for accessories until the next summer.

Looks like rumor about the 850 Etec are true. Should be at least 170 HP. Hopefully it stays together.
