New 2020 LTX GT

Bump. Another year has passed.

Anyone noticed the chain tensioner roller screw coming out on their MY20+ model or the red loctite is a good final fix from Yam/Cat ?

Some had it some didn’t. Best and quickest to just tack the screws and be safe.

Hey ONE GUYS BROTHER !! I have a STX-GT, awesome sled...every bit of advise given hear sounds really good. I have not put on the BOP shaft saver but am very interested to see what the shaft looks like when it get opened. I have had no real issues so far but the dealer couldn't get the oil tank sealed up properly, it took 11 weeks to get my sled back from that problem, thank god it was off season. Another problem that just popped up is oil in the air filter, Ive read up on it and I guess the snowstorm by buddies scratchers was putting up ahead of me caused some freezing and atomizing of oil...somehow I got to fix that and if you're a reasonable rider this oil mess might happen to you too, it needs a modification and I think Rdan addresses this in one of his videos. Another thing is the saddle bags can pop open on the trail, just be sure you are latching them correctly. I think I have to get some tools someday and perhaps do some basics myself, thankfully this is a good site for getting advise..you won't get better advise than from Rockerdan, Knappattack, Travis at BOP and a few more seasoned pro's...the Moderators on this site know a real bunch too. Rockerdan has videos to guide..how much better does it get!!
I added the BOP hose protectors,BOP GPS mount, GSE electric power steering, scratchers a must.
Looking forward to more posts on the I Grips and what you come up with for pricing for each. Also, how to put on the electrical cleaner and grease ( spray or brush), and solving that oil spray in the air filter compartment...that can't be good!!

The oil in air box is from the roll over valve, when Yamaha added the heated valve in 20 they also routed the hose into the back of the air box. Pull the hose out of the air box, add a 5/8” barb connector and add a piece of hose and route the hose under the engine and make sure you block the hole in the air box or completely remove the roll over valve like others have done.

I didn't see any loose on the newer sleds. I think with the better loctite on the threads properly is a major improvement.

When I got the cai for my sled, the kit came with a k&n filter that goes on the rov hose. The dealer then tucked the filter up in the corner towards the panel turnbuckle. The filter is pointing upwards so hopefully I don't get oil coming out of it..... It may sound stupid but the only reason I did a tune was to get the cai to replace that dammed oil leaking on my belt. Otherwise the sled has enough power for me.

Some guys don’t have the ability to weld that screw. If that’s the case. Take it apart and spray the #*$&@ out if with brake cleaner and let the screw dry. Put Green Loc tight on it and tighten it up. Not hearing any issues with the roller wearing out or anything like that. It’s just the screws backing out. Green loc tight them! They will be fine. Proper cleaning before and allow to dry after it will be fine. Giving another option for guys that don’t weld.

WinderFab -Ya so at the beginning of the season I'm looking for this ROV everyone's taking about and its gone! There a empty bolt hole on the bracket and the other hose is OEM plugged. So I traced things out and the ROV I believe is under the front plastic panel below the gauges and next to the steering post?? There's a couple rubber hoses going (terminating) in the airbox. I think one's larger then the other. I guess I'm interested in which ever fits the 5/16" barb. A little concerned about freezing at the outlet but I can tie-wrap just below airbox and engine will keep from freezing. May have to silicone the vacant hole in the airbox.

BTW - $5800 delta for 2022 and EPS . Decision time is before 4/17/21

OK, first off this sled will not have the engine break like the Apex unless you clutch for it. Yamaha actually designed this sled to reduce the engine breaking which has been one 0f my biggest complaints. Secondly iStuds aren't going to cut it on this sled in my opinion unless the sole purpose is to get to the fuel pump when there is ice on the ground. Too much power here to harness with even the stock Winder to reduce the Squierrelyness when going across the lake with patches of shear ice. I found myself sideways at 100 plus in an instant and had to swiftly return home to change the shorts the 1st year i had mine. Dual keel Pilots just plain work and i can't comment on the single keel pilots because i have not tried them , but intend to.

Yes on 20’s and 21’s the heated roll over valve has changed location from previous years, it’s now on top of the engine, follow the hose coming out of the top of the oil tank and you will see it.

The hose roll over hose going into the air box is the bigger one, 5/8” ID.

I dont recall what i paid for the i-grips any more.

They install very nicely. So far after 2,200 miles one has ripped loose due to not drilling the pilot hole centered enough. Rest are holding up well.

Performance wise they are exactly what my wife and i wanted! We ride fairly hard. On icy hills or corners they do a beautiful job keeping the back end in check. They are by no means a direct replacement for studs! If your main goal is to ride as hard and as fast as possible corner to corner on the edge of control you need studs! But for some added gription and safety they are a win with us.

With the oil in the air box you need to bypass the roll over valve for sure. Ours froze up and blew oil all over my wifes right boot. Pushed the oil by the tank seal. Amazingly enough according to the dealer i took the sled to this is not covered under the first year of factory warranty. They cleaned out the tubes and air cleaner. I had to pay for that. They said its part of regular maintenance on four strokes. I just got done re sealing the oil tank as it was still leaking. Not impressed with everything that isn't covered by Yamaha.

thanks for the info on the IGrips..sounds like they are worth investing in. I notice the picture in your profile..do you do tractor pulls? I like watching that on TV...raw horsepower, incredible engineering. Joe

Our family runs the Diggin Hard diesel super stock. We mostly pull with the NTPA so we are on the RFD channel.
