Hey all I just bought a 07 Attak last wednesday, and I have looked on here for simple mods, and have come to the conclusion the Ulmer clutch kit stage 1 or 2 would be a good mod but is there anything that can be done to the engine aspect fairly cheap and simple? I raced it against my 04 700 polaris that has the SLP pipe cannister air horn kit and flowrites, and it is clutched and regeared and running the 136" 1.25 ripsaw track and my Poo will walk on it from about 60 on up. I was riding the Poo and I weigh 235 lbs and my daughter was also with me and she's 75 lbs. and my wife was on the Attak and she only weighs 125 lbs. We took off pretty even and stayed that way til 60 mph then I started pulling away fairly easily. I realize this engine is just breaking in and my 700 poo runs good enough to take my buddies 05 900 zr, but I was just wondering what I can do that's not too noticeable image wise. I have to mention that I rode this sled (07 Attak) that I bought for my wife and to see how I like the 4 stroke, and this will be my next sled also. Thanks, Gene. :yam: :rocks:

welcome aboard, do a search on apex/attak's, there's ton's of things you can do mod them up, i have an 06' attak and the only one i have lost to was a very well running mach z

The four stroke gets much faster with miles. It takes at least 500 before they begin to go. 2000 miles even better yet.

Funny, at 2000 miles these 4 strokes are just fully waking up, where 2 strokes (in some cases) are already in need of a rebuild. :ORC

Boy that is for sure. I am so hooked on the fourstrokes. tryanATTAK, not to worry they get much faster with miles. A couple things you can do to to pick up some HP that is very simple is an airbox mod, and NGK cr10ek spark plugs. Combined, your looking at around 5-7 HP. Be careful with the air box mod, depending on where you add the extra intake it can get very noisy. Do a search in this forum for airbox snorkel. There is a fella that put a RX-1 snorkel into the front of the apex airbox. I really like that design the best. It will keep noise to a minimum, and allows nice cool air to enter the airbox as well.

Mike Help;
Please don't hate me but I just installed hauck speed-sheaves and the fuel box on my 06 Apex and lost a bunch of mph and fuel economy also. Took it back saturday and picked it up thursday with minimal at best gains. The belt rides below in the secondary and after marking the primary it won't pull up to within 3/8 of an inch. Last year it ran 115 on snow and 500 miles this morning at 7am it ran 117 on a half mile of ice at 1600 miles. Your thoughts please, signed bad investment? :4STroke:

I wouldn't change sheaves. I also wouldn't be adding fuel. Go back to stock. Only above mods work on non boosted sleds. Sorry.

Thanks Mike;
I just got off the phone with them now they want to send a ram air kit because the fuel accelator is adding to much fuel (then why sell it for this application) and a custom set of weights. After a lengthy phone call I explained that this was supposed to be done the last time I dropped it off as they were assured that I was not happy and this was the last chance they had to make it right so I have told them that I want to put no further time in this project and what can be done for a refund, so he is getting with Pat and I am waiting for a return phone call. I will advise.

Thanks guys, the reason I said not too visible with the mods is this truly is the wifes sled. I have fallen in love with it though and since I ride alot more than she does I can ride it when shes not with me. I will be getting my own most likely next season then the real fun begins. What does it take to make around 170-180 hp with these sleds, besides nitrous? Gene

well tryan,you might not have to do anything the ri motor has 180 hp now so maybe if we all hold are hands together and pray,yamaha might put this motor in the apex chasis or even better the nytro chasis
